Let's try this again. After having his invitation to speak at the Detroit Economic Club rescinded last month, Steven Rattner, the former auto advisor to the Obama Administration, will get another chance to speak to Detroit. The Automotive Press Association is now hosting a lunch where Rattner will speak with members of the media on November 15, just three days before General Motors launches its IPO.

The APA says that Rattner generated quite a bit of automotive news over the past year, and that it only makes sense for the organization to give him a chance to speak directly to local news outlets.

We doubt the former car czar will answer too many hard-hitting questions, though. Rattner is currently on a tour to promote his new book, "Overhaul: An Insider's Account of the Obama Administration's Emergency Rescue of the Auto Industry."

This sh-t cracks me up. This guy is cut from the very same mold as the people he came in and broomed out. Wtf could he possibly have to say that could possibly hold anybodies interest? "Speak to the local news outlets"... wow!... that should really be riveting!

In the middle of his book now...its a good read but has stale moments, he goes into uber detail about everything and anything. Plus all the good parts were exploited in the media so not many surprises hidden inside, but there are a few.

Just finished Rattners book. He confirms my points on old GM management as being incompetent. And that being the real cause of GMs problems. Thanks Steve.

Just finishing up Rattner's book. Great read for anyone that's interested in the auto industry. DeLorean's book sound like it should be my next. Thanks for the tip.
