HPP Trans-Am and Camaro - Click above for high-res image gallery

Last week, we showed you what happens when Madison Heights, Michigan-based Heide Performance Products tries to pay homage to the Pontiac Trans Am using the current Chevrolet Camaro as groundwork. The Trans Am, specifically, isn't what we'd call pretty, but it's nothing short of SEMA-spec and we're willing to bet that there are dozens of other Camaro-to-Trans-Am conversion kits lurking elsewhere on the show floor.

The yellow HPP Camaro, on the other hand, is decidedly more sedate, though still not really something we'd want to bring home. Check out both of these one-offs in our gallery of live images, below.

No, the HPP isn't the prettiest car in Vegas. In fact it could apply as the ugliest.

I am friends with the dealer that the Camaro is being built for. I think it's better looking that the stock Camaro. All it needs now is a convertible top.

      Red carpet with blue seats?

      Really?

The previous Trans Am conversions from last year's SEMA were MUCH better done.

I'm just confused by the fact that all these companies that are trying to make T/A's out of Camaros are going for the 70's style as opposed to the late 60's style that the Camaro is starting with.

The 5th-gen Camaro pulls a lot of styling from the first-gen Camaro, so why not make a Firebird that looks more like the first-gen as well? I admit that the Smokey & the Bandit" style is probably most popular, but it's makes less sense considering the design you are starting with and I've not seen a resulting car that looks remotely good because of it.

Just build an updated version of something like this and you're in business.

        You answered your own question:

The Trans-Am looks like a rapper with silver teeth caps....

This is just wrong. Somebody plese stop the madness.

Well I don't think the knock off Trans Am wouldn't be so bad if the front didn't come to such a sharp point... No, wait.. it's just bad. No matter what you did to it, it will still be ugly.

Even the Firebreather was better than this one... Though the Lingenfelter definitely takes 1st prize on trying to create a Firebird/TransAm (though leaving it a Camaro would be A O K too...)

These pictures should be titled how to ruin an ok concept with the worst pair of wheels in history. No snowflakes on a T/A, really???

That Trans Am is hideous. Note for designers of car interiors: orange carpet and blue seats don't go well together.

Unless you happen to be a UF alum (which I am not).

        totally agreed

what the hell is wrong with that back? its like its missing the rear bumper because the tail lights protrude out of the car...and the interior colour scheme was apparently chosen by a colour blind ..
