After negotiations seemed to have broken down for an F1 return with Renault for 2011, Kimi Raikkonen appears to be settled on remaining in the World Rally Championship for at least another season. Just who the Finnish pilot will be driving for next year, however, remains a big question mark.

While the former F1 champion could remain with Citroën, one rumor circulating the paddock places him alongside American stuntman extraordinaire Ken Block in the Monster Ford World Rally Team. Block is reportedly optimistic on the prospect, but the outfit's funding for next season remains an issue. Raikkonen is sponsored by Red Bull, while Block and his team endorse rival energy drink brand Monster.

Could a star-studded, Taurine-fueled super-team be in the cards for next year's championship? We hope so...

Ken just covered this during an interview with Bill Wood after Rally Spain:

I'm excited to see what will happen next year, and as of right now it looks like it will either be Chris Atkinson or nobody...I don't think that MWRT will be able to find the budget to bring on a guy like Kimi, as much fun as watching both of those guys on the same team would be...

I'm not following WRC but I did watch the highlights one night on HD theater or w/e, anyway Ken Block was placing dead last by 3 or 4 minutes. That's really slow..

No clue it was on a few weekends ago, October 15-17th I'm pretty sure. It was just showing that particular stage not the overall race.

I'd love to see a Yank be successful in WRC just to show them snooty Euros that we too CAN turn, but it seems being an amazing stunt driver does not necessarily equate to a fast rally driver. Then again, it's Ken Block's first season, so the guy deserves a chance and maybe he'll become competitive after a couple more seasons under his belt.

What rally was it? He's been having mechanical problems the past few, and he has crashed out of a few due to pace note errors. He just finished 9th overall in Rally Spain (Only his 3rd tarmac rally ever) and has had several 6th place stage times ahead of Kimi and Villagra. Nowhere near as fast as Loeb, but for someone that has never written WRC pace notes before or driven a WRC spec car, it's pretty freaking good.

I'd say he's doing alright for what is basically his hobby.

Best teammate for Block, someone who can really drive: Chris Atkinson
        • 4 Years Ago
Ding! Ding! Ding! You win the internets. I think Chris is a much more likely candidate for the team than Kimi is, and Ken has expressed that in interviews.

Kimi is a real champion but who is Ken Block? I mean what did he achieve?

Nobody cares those championships which you mentioned. Formula 1, WRC and WTCC rule in the real life which are European based organizations..
well we dont give a shizz about european organizations there all the same anyways,

PS: stop being a stuck up european no one likes those anyways

That NASCAR, IndyCar and many other THINGS are not real races, they're just shows...

NASCAR racers just spin around the oval circuits (which are NOT REAL race tracks by the way) which is simple and weird...

Rallying is simply a Scandinavian sport:
