When we think of the best jobs on earth, professions like Formula 1 driver come to mind. Taxi driver doesn't usually come to mind for most, but hot-footed Sabine Schmitz drives a different kind of cab. The speed-loving young lady drives a BMW M5 around the Nürburgring, and not just for fun – she gets paid to drive adrenaline junkies around the 'Ring at high speeds, and she's so good at what she does that she's earned the nickname "Queen of the Nürburgring." Schmitz's accomplishments don't end with her taxi job, either – she's also won 45 races at the Nordschleife, or 45 more races than any of us.

BMW featured Schmitz in it's Unscripted series, "a series about people, talking about their life, passion and joy with the brand BMW." Hit the jump to watch Schmitz ply her trade on the world's most famous track, and try not to get jealous of one of the world's best jobs. Her office does, after all, take the size and shape of a BMW M5, and that certainly can't suck.

I was lucky enough to see Sebine at the Nurburgring this summer. Sadly I didnt' book a ring taxi in advance (I knew they would be sold out of appointments) but instead I found a place there to rent a Lotus 2-Eleven to drive around the track (Awesome!) But I saw Sebine cleaning vomit from out of the back of her M5 after taking a group for their lap.

No that wasn't me. But that is the same car I drove. The owners of the car sent that to me about a month later. I was very sad to see that happened.

Also I was supposed to drive a Lotus Elise that day as well but someone wrecked that in the morning before I got there (It was on their first lap after only 3 kilometers and totaled that car)

I understand that is not unusual.

thats my kind of girl--we know she can drive--can she cook ?
Haha, so ture!! I would do the same.
Who cares! I'll do the cooking if she can teach me to drive the 'Ring like that.

      ok, two comments:

      1) Female Stig - oh yeah. thats what the american version needs

      2) Best job in the world? Wayne Carini
        • 4 Years Ago
Kinda disagree with you on Carini. TV shows show alotta up times and enjoyment. Not the "I just got murdered on that trade/deal". He's a business man - and if he makes tons off his show, more power to him. But one can lose their shirt as well. He gets to prance with some heavy iron at the concours; AND he gets to trailer a car to a show - then take it back because nothing happened. I'm old - so I don't wantthat stress. Drive the 'ring? I'd miss a curve at 110 just to say I died doing what I love. (JK)

Besides all the TopGear UK stuff that she has done, I thought she was also on a Germany-language automotive TV show.
She's amazing!! I agree, she should be the US Top Gear Stig.
Sabine rules. Good to see BMW tap her for a promotion.
I remember Sabine from her Top Gear appearance driving the Transit Van, What an exciting a beautiful lady she is, A Taxi ride with her would be so cool.
She looks familiar...was she on the German team in that episode of Top Gear a few series back? The one with the double decker car race that had one person steering in one car and one person controlling the pedals in the other?
        Yep! She was the one.
@Autothinker: Clarkson was driving a diesel Jaguar sedan, IIRC.
She was also tasked to teach Clarkson how to drive a jag around the 'ring, and he did it so badly, she claimed she could do it faster in a van. So they put her up to it. Great episode!
Clarkson thought he was good doing 9:40 I think, in a diesel Jag, Sabine said "I could do that in a van!!". So when it was the Ford Transit van's 40th anniversary they went back with one and challenged her to beat Clarkson's time, I think the best she got was just over 10 mins, blowing past Porsches and others on the track.

There was a great image of other people in their sports cars changing over tyres and things in the carpark and next to them were Sabine and Top Gear crew taking out fire extinguisher, spare wheel, etc trying to get the van lighter

Excactly, she was in one episode where they had several challanges. I think it was the last one of season 11 or 12, not sure.
She raced cube van around the 'ring to be under 20min and beat Clarkson as he was so happy to have cracked 20min in a decent ride - I can't recall the car he did it in. She thought it was funny so she challenged him saying she could do it in a cargo van... she almost won too!
