Citroën DS4 – Click above for high-res image gallery

In its quest to take on the lucrative premium compact segment, Citroën has been unrelenting with the release of the its higher-end DS line. The DS4 was just unveiled in Paris, and now reports indicate that the French automaker plans to take on the likes of the Audi S3 and Volkswagen Golf R with a new performance-oriented version of the high hatch.

The kicker is that, according to recurring reports, the Citroën DS4 Racing is tipped to go hybrid, following the likes of the Honda CR-Z and Lexus CT200h. A 95-horsepower electric motor would be mated to the car's 200-horsepower turbo four, in either a Hybrid4-sytle all-wheel drive setup or as a front-driver using the system being developed with BMW. Sounds enticing, but hybrid or not, the DS4 Racing isn't expected before 2013.

      it looks heavy and cartoony.

from the rear, if you change the c pillar, it could easily look like the Beetle.

      i like it.

a former co worker, has a c4 pretty cool and certainly not boring and neat rims.
nice drive, the 5 door looks better than the 3 door.

the dash is not topnotch like a golf or audi, but it's ok.

on some of these french cars you need a manual on how to change an air filter.
      lol

some people here say, the french make besser diesel engines.
you can find french diesel engines on boats here.

i also like the Citroen Berlingo

Since driving the MkI cube damn near a decade ago, I've often wondered why more automakers don't use this sort of setup.

Seriously, the front looks so much like a Mitsubishi Lancer... Nice one, Citroen.

Wait a minute.... is that a 5-door hatch with suicide doors? That is awesome!

Ford should take note and put that on the the Focus coming to the States... I'd buy one.

Love the seats, but overall, the car is over styled and busy looking, with too many things going on. I say this a huge fan of previous Citroens from the 50s-80s. They need to recapture the avant garde simpler funkiness of the CX, the SM and XM. The tech sounds interesting though.
