Roding Roadster 23 – Click above to watch video after the jump

What happens when a KTM X-Bow and an Audi concept car smash into each other on the drawing board? We get the Roding Roadster 23. This is no longer just a unique-looking, lightweight sports car that we've only seen photos of, because the car has now been caught in action. Despite the hate-it-or-love-it styling, this Roding Roadster 23 looks like it's an absolute blast to drive.

The Roadster 23 weighs just 2,030 pounds and is powered by a six-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The run from 0-62 miles per hour happens in just under four seconds. Better yet, the car appears quick – not just in the straights, but around turns as well. The drivers in the video, which is waiting after the jump, toss the car around like a toy. It almost looks like the car prefers being sideways.

Unfortunately, the "23" in the name refers to the number that will be built. So it's highly likely that the one you see in the video after the jump is the only one you will ever see.

With a car that small it should be a tad bit lighter... like some carbon fiber, titanium nuts and bolts, stuff like that and then make an one-off superlight version. Find the costs of the different "lighter" components. Find out what light materials are the most bang for buck. Make a new improved most fiscally sensible lighter version then perfect that. Then auction that one-off to help subsidize the cost of the one-off itself then boom! Or go to our friends at BMW's EfficientDynamics to find out lighter possibilities that only they would probably have the resources to obtain then find out a way to possibly split profits with them.

If they ever use that idea I WANT CREDIT!! my idea! ^.^

I think it's pretty cool looking, it's different... and then add the specs, it's a pretty cool little sports car.

A window-installed AC unit is better looking. But can't be driven

I am truly thankful the one in the video is only one I will ever see.

It looks to have the making of a 914 reincarnation in profile, but then it takes a giant leap in the wrong directions when I open my eyes fully.

So that's what happens to all of the car designs Lego rejects.

Too bad the US doesn't have the UK's 'small-maker' exemption from crushing emission and safey regulations...2000# with 300HP! I think it looks just fine......Bruce

It seems like, the thing cant go around a turn without the back end kicking out, more like it is riding on glass and has not traction ever in the back.

Seriously, stop judging the car's handling on the car intentionally drifting. You can see them flick the car into the drift and then them gunning through the drift. It IS for show. Nothing in the video says that this thing can handle, so I don't see where you're saying it's lying.

Judging the car's handling based on the company's drivers intentionally drifting the car is like judge a car's looks when it's in full prototype disguise or judging Top Gear US before it even shows on TV.

Um you do realize that its rearend stepping out like that is just for show, right? It's easy to see they're intentionally doing it.
        You mean the TV lied?!

But overall, it just doesn't seem stable, there is for show sideways and this car has no clear grip sideways, i think it is the latter.

This thing has "WTF?" written all over it. Heads will turn when it drives by. Unique for sure.

and as if 950kg was an achievement. a stock Miata weighed that much.
an Ariel Atom weighs half. and even that's not light. that's two cast iron pianos to carry 2 people. I think not.
I am not impressed in the least.

besides, any competent engineer knows that only electric drive has a future and that it's so much better.

stomachs will turn, then heads will turn throw-up.

no doubt based on the exterior design

The side profile looks a bit like a Honda del sol with the fenders cut out.

I don't get why it has to look so hideous?
IMO it is a beautiful car, I am glad to see a "boxier" roadster for a change :)
