A much more polished version of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG roadster has been spied, and although the gullwing doors and exploding bolts are compelling features of the hardtop, the shapely SLS looks good without them. The 200-mph convertible will use the same kind of roof last seen on the McLaren SLR Roadster, that being canvas-wrapped aluminum ribs eith electrical operation.
So far, there's been no mention of anything other big changes slated for the droptop SLS, meaning we should see the final product debut sometime next year (Frankfurt Auto Show, perhaps?). The folks at AutoExpress report that the SLS roadster will cost somewhere in the area of £180,000 ($284,851 USD), a price just as eye-popping as the car itself.

i really find it funny to see so called "spy photos" when the pics were obviously taken by the company's photographer.

How can you tell it's an SLS with all that camo on?

Who really cares about a drop top,the car is as ugly as sin!

The upper edge of the windshield going back into a straight edged roof lip kinda stuffs up the lines for me, they should have let it follow the curve of the glass.

for the love of jesus and adam smith, don't convert prices directly from pounds to dollars.

        and yet they always do...

This car is pretty pointless without the gullwing doors, that's the whole appeal of the SLS not to mention the lighter weight etc. etc.

Just get an SL63 or SL65 for less coin if you want a droptop Benz.

Like the original 1955-1963 300SL Roadster?

If anything, it's the 4220 lb R230 SL which as become an overweight and pointless boulevardier.

some of u guts might disagree with me, but i really like it a lot without the roof! The lack of gullwing doors does take plenty away from it but it's still gorgeous, in my eyes at least

I agree, I actually like this version better.
I always thought I wanted the gullwing doors, but after reading countless opinions from people that drove or have been in the car, the consensus is that they are a pain in the tuckus.
Also, the convertible SLS looks much better and this is not even a finished one.

I think that they should still offer a gull wing door option for those rich enough to afford this. Disclaimer: this is a joke.
