Cadillac CTS-V is the new smoke monster – Click above to watch video after the jump

The 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is a lot of things. It's a luxury two-door that's also a muscle car. It's a supercharged beast with a fire-breathing LSA mounted under the hood. And it's also a smoke machine. Monticello Motor Club invited a slew of vehicles out for its first annual Drift with the Supercars event, and while a few dedicated drift cars showed up, a handful of other lust-worthy rides arrived to ruin their rubber. The CTS-V Coupe was on hand, sharing the track with a Ferrari 575 Maranello, C6 Corvette, 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series.

The Cadillac fared exceptionally well against the rest of the competition and took home the title of Best Drift in New Car. Check out the tire-shredding, sideways action in the beautifully shot video after the jump.

      to G82.....do you have a G8? (just curious...I have an 09 GT....love it)

This is a really nice Caddy except for the home depot style grill. Muscle and luxury is a good combo.

      Nice drifting!! CTS-V rocks.

I hope you speak better than you type! Your dad is sorely mistaken by the way. The quality of American cars is getting better and better each year. In fact, they are rated as high, or more highly in all the J.D. Powers ratings. As "ASIA" quality goes....ALL car manufactures have their issues. Toyota just recalled 1.5 million cars this week due to faulty brakes. Do your homework JIM. (I mean your English homework)

When is Caddy going to ditch that cheap "chicken wire" grill?
Looks like chain mail to me, like the CTS-V is headed off to battle. I love it, but I guess it comes down to personal preference.
sw.. depends where the mole is
I don't like the look of the grill either. But come on, would you kick a supermodel out of bed because of a mole?
this is the exact reason why people should really see a car in person before they make comments like this. I just went outside to look again... and my CTS-V's still isn't even remotely made of "chicken wire." Please go look at one before U comment again

Ok, I take it back CmicasaTheWeak.

It doesn't look like chicken wire, it looks like those cheap snap on gutter guards you can buy at Home Depot.

      That is one sexy beast!!

Is it going to have a 6spd option, or auto only?
I will be trading in my CTS for a V as soon as possible! This car screams American and looks effing hot doing it.
Silly "sport", but OK. I love the styling on the CTS-V Coupe... I do have a beef with the front but it's less so the mesh than the squared off corner "chins". I think the regular CTS-V front looks better for that reason.

So the MB CLK-Black Series is considered a "Supercar"? Funny how much the definition of the word has changed since I was a little kid. And I'm only 27yrs old.
Katshot, , I bet you would not take this Caddy if someone would give it to you, yes right !!!!! However, you are one of those kiddy mustang lovers, and you would not know what to do with this "real car" if you had one, better off sticking to your stangies, and leave the real automobiles to someone who knows how to use and appreciate them.

Strange how out of all the cars there, the CTS-V seemed to have a lot more on-camera time. Hmmm.....
Another Cadillac commercial in disguise. Ugly, ugly, ugly! If that car only had 400hp, nobody would even give it a second glance.
Another stupid Mustang fanboy i see.
That's funny, in 04-07 WELL over 25,000 obviously GAVE it a second look WHEN the 1st gen V HAD 400 hp. The second look and popularity that inspired the extra 156 hp, big brakes, and mag ride control. Make sure you give it a wave to pass when you see it come up on you at the local road course as that 400 hp is just enough to keep the tires planted and carve up a good line. But you are slightly right about the Cadillac ad, as Monticello is a breeding ground for competitive GM cars.

Dude, read any article on the CTS-V and the one feature that gets the most play is the HP rating. I know horsepower sells, and that's what GM is counting on. Performance was the main point of the Gen 1 also but the enthusiast world quickly wrote the car off as a muscular, but unrefined sport sedan. Bottom line, the car never posed a serious threat to the cream of the sport sedan crop. Fast-forward to the Gen 2. Much has been improved, and GM could possibly be taken seriously in the sport sedan market. Did the car NEED 556hp? Probably not but what the hell. In typical American fashion, GM figures, let's bring a sledgehammer to the race track when a good framing hammer would do. The average consumer will latch onto that HP figure and decide bigger is better. So, it's a win-win, right? Well, I think the jury is still out on it. Not a bad car but still not refined to the level of the target vehicles from across the pond.
And as for this video NOT being a commercial, you've gotta be kidding me. It's absolutely an advertisement and AB got fully behind it.

... what's with the title, i thought it's wheel was gonna come off
        • 4 Years Ago
because the probably of wheels coming off while drifting is not 0% as oppose to ass coming off
        =*(
Because when someone says they're "laughing their ass off", it means their ass cheeks are literally laying on the ground somewhere?

        :P
