RENNtech C74 Konzept

As the worlds foremost Mercedes-Benz/AMG tuner, RENNtech unveiled their latest project vehicle at the 2010 Festival's of Speed in Orlando, Florida. All performance modifications and exterior aerodynamic modifications were designed, developed, and tested in house at RENNtech's facility located in Lake Park, Florida.

The C74 is the latest variation of RENNtech's C63 AMG project vehicle which has seen continual transformations throughout its life, serving as a working test platform for RENNtech's proprietary line of performance products. The C74's current trim boasts incredible performance from the 6.2L AMG V-8 with a wide stance and aggressive look to match. The "74" designation given by RENNtech, refers to the 74 inch width of the rear wheel track which lies beneath the body work of the C74's muscular rear end. This allows the ability to run up to an 11" wide rear wheel with a 315 series rear tire for the ultimate in handling and traction. The number also pays homage to the legendary RENNtech V12 "SL 74".

This package is available now starting at $11,950. For more information regarding our C74 package and additional pricing options, visit our news blog:

I may be in the minority, but I sort of like the body kit. I imagine on a black vehicle without the silly decals it would look alright.

Plus, $12K seems pretty reasonable considering you're getting a substantial power increase, new wheels, aerodynamic bits, and the suspension tweaks. Well, reasonable by German tuning standards at least.

$12,000 is BEYOND reasonable given that this is Renntech quality, and a huge performance bump.

The whole package will run you $11,950? Please. Check your facts!

The press release reads "starting at $11,950". Go to the URL mentioned on the press release and you'll see the following listed:

C74 Full Package $15,450 (includes all of the below items)
      C63 Aerodynamic Package $11,950
      C63 Rear Decklid Spoiler $1,650
      C63 Front Splitter $2,650
C63 Rear Diffuser w/ Integrated exhaust tips $3,950
      Rear Widebody Kit $3,850
      Front Widebody Kit $3,750

What's worse - none of the above actually includes any performance mods! (engine, ECU, etc.)

Yeah, I thought that there was something really OFF about the quoted pricing, as Renntech has never been cheap.
I remember seeing the ECU upgrade on the S65 costing $12,000, which was just a reflash, and then their rims and tires were another $16K. Like Brabus, it's easy to see the total modified prices hit $50K-$60K on the E-class models, which is why this seemingly (relatively) low package price seemed uncharacteristic.
I would be surprised if the real/whole body kit plus performance mods were less than $30,000 altogether.

What this car needed was a more composed chassis. Not more power.

And that body kit is trying way too hard.

....I'd still like to take this around a track though.

It seems that ford (Mustang) and Mercedes are constantly putting out variants of the same model simply for publicity purposes, and not for real innovation. BORING!!
No way there's any upgraded internals for 12K
      • 4 Years Ago
for some reason c 74 really sounds nice to me.
I like it, but not with the body kit. Seriously, with a front splitter like that if you lived in the city you'd destroy it within a week on driveways and speed bumps.

For those of you who can find it check out Motor Magazine's (Australian publication) Hot Tuner special; there were three modified C63 AMGs that were pulling impressive numbers and except for the wheels, they looked completely stock. Ultimate sleepers...
I'll take the power, but for the love of god leave the body kit.
yeah, something is not quite right there. it's borderline ghetto.
Don't get my hopes up by naming a Merc "C74" then not deliver a V12. Seriously disappointed.
I love it! I love the stance with the wide body inserts plus the huge rear wheels! And yea $11,950 for the kit? Your crazy! More like $30 grand+

There's no way you get all that kit for $11,950. That's an easy 12k in parts and labor in the engine at your local speed shop, forget about RENNtech prices.
