Lexus' next (really) big thing – Click above to watch commercial after the jump

It's no longer kosher for carmakers to run simulations on computers that can fit on desks, because that's for chumps. If you don't have gear fit for a Hollywood blockbuster or a trip to Mars, well, you're not really serious about this whole car thing, are you?

Lexus has joined the latter camp with its new driving simulator, built to simulate crash avoidance. Inside the metal bulb is a Lexus LS460, surrounded by a 360-degree facsimile of a real driving environment. It's their next big thing, so they say. Us? We just want to reserve it when Gran Turismo 5 finally comes out. Follow the jump to watch the spot.

what happens if the gas pedal gets stuck in the simulator car?
This needed to prevent their boring cars from putting test drivers to sleep and causing a wreck in real life.
Well, at least they can simulate cool driving. ;-)

Looks like those flight sims they use for pilot training only for cars and not airplanes.

That's swell, but does it let you do a loop-de-loop like in the arcade game Race Drivin'? That thing was a technological wonder back in the day.

Hmmm. I want to see more from the driver's perspective.

So what exactly is the point of the simulator?
Haha, no kidding. If I had access to this thing about the only thing I'd be doing is trying to set new tiime trial records for runs through the virtual city-I mean you basically get to drive like a complete maniac with the full feel but without the dying. Awesome.

I'm pretty sure that is Toyota Motorsport GmbH, formerly the F1 team located in Germany (cologne). Their ex-F1 simulator, a simulators a simulator just F1 and the lark need to respond a little quicker. Sure they've just put an Ls460 and Lexus badge on it for this commercial

I liked it the first time a few years ago when it was called the "Toyota Driving Simulator". Hooray for re-branding.
