The Toyota Yaris is ready for an update, something that Toyota of North America has been pushing for some time now. A concept version of the next generation Yaris is expected to make an appearance at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show and we may have gotten a glimpse of what that car will look like thanks to a few scanned images courtesy of French automotive site, Turbo.fr.

The images show an updated Toyota Vitz in standard and Modellista trim. If you're not up on our Euro/JDM parlance, Vitz is the model name for the Yaris in other markets, and the modellista versions are fitted with sporty body-kits. Thanks for the tip, Chanh!

Peugeot basis + skoda hood + opel headlights + hideous front bumper = you got it...

Not bad. Much more aggressive. More like a Yaris version that would come out in Europe. Maybe this will lead us to better things for Toyota and other sub-compacts.

But will the instrument cluster be in the right place?

I had high hopes for this considering how bad the current yaris looks, but now choosing a Fiesta will be even easier. Thanks Toyota.

Hey, well, that's not bad !
Blurry picture means my brain interprets it like a Scion badge... (i know it won't happen, i'm just saying !)

wow best looking sub compact yet!

This is one hot sub compact car, no need for any aesthetic upgrades.

Looks more like a new Corolla Matrix to me.

        +1

If this is the new Yaris, I expect all other manufacturers will have to come out with something ever more appealing to keep strong sales. Since automakers have noticed Americans love stylish subcompact cars, we may get everything the Euro-market has.

this is the yaris: ricer edition

if you think this looks good, you have very poor taste in cars. bet you think a body kit looks good on a car. lmao. ricers.

Wow lame. Same old boring Toyota. Looks like something they already have out. This is progress?
Man does that Yaris ever looked pissed off. What made him so angry?

The Yaris has always been one of the best looking small cars IMO. This improves on an already good theme. Why can't Toyota style all their cars this way?

I hope Toyota gives the upcoming updated Yaris a sunroof option, as well as an optional high powered JBL, or other worthwhile brand, audio system with subwoofer.
The audio systems available now with the Yaris are not good.
The lack of a sunroof is a mistake on Toyota's part, IMHO.
It's about time this automaker woke up to the fact that the B class is getting busier than ever with new models from the competition.
      The Mazda2, for example.
They MUST update the Yaris and do it right, for if they won't they'll be left in the competition's dust (so to speak).
      Peace!
