2012 BMW 6 Series Convertible – Click above for gallery

Look what's been caught without its camo: the 2012 BMW 6 Series Convertible. The image you see above originated from the folks at E90 Post, and is supposedly a clandestine shot snapped during a photo shoot of the big, topless BMW. The crew over at Autobild then set about doing a little Photoshop forensics to remove the pesky cameraman and shadows from the shot, giving us an unobstructed view of exactly what the new Sixer will look like with its cloth top stowed.

So what do we know about the 2012 6 Series? BMW hasn't come out and revealed exactly what will lurk under that massive hood, but if we were laying down our hardly-earned paychecks on an educated guess, we'd say that a smattering of the company's range of turbocharged inline six-cylinder engines would be a good bet. Meanwhile, the topped-out M6 is likely to pack something with a few more cylinders and another turbo. Thanks for the tip, Jen!

Yeah, it is looking good but that was to be expected....

Looks good, just hoping they didn't put those audi LEDs at the front

The only time the Bangle butt looks good is when the top is down but how many times will you see that? I've only seen it one time. CA BMW owners always have the top up!

There are certain colors that make BMWs look awful and this is one of them. I followed a white 750iL home today at lunch and decided that color made it look very unattractive. Made a mental note of it after thinking, "Ew!".

boring - bland - ho hum - BMW used to be exciting and Mercedes staid - we have the reverse now with both styling and performance

Looks pretty lovely...the front is what concerns me though. The squared off lower fascia on the 6 series concept was not flattering.

I'll be keeping my e39 & e63 for a while not liking new style very boring I like the e63 because it stands out from the crowd the new ones look all the same which they have before but these ones yuck

As I've said before I really think you guys are wrong when it comes to the new 6's engines.

I am willing to bet it will mirror the 5 series' engine choices, so there will be a 650i with a twin turbo v8 that's similar to (but not) the engine in the M6

      I'd put money on it.

The N52 engine will likely not be in the US 6 series.

this car has some really nice lines, but none of them can hide the flatness. looks like a piece of slate with wheels

that thing looks like it's meant to go in the water.

      thing's a banana boat.

It looks like a big land yacht. The wheels are the only thing worth keeping on the 6 series.

Yea, it does look like a big boulevarder in that picture.
