AMS Alpha 10 Nissan GT-R claims a quarter-mile record – Click above to watch the video after the jump

AMS Performance has broken its own quarter-mile record in a Nissan GT-R, this time gussied up with its Alpha 10 package. The most important thing you need to know about the suite of changes is that it takes the car up to 1,100 horsepower. The details include an Alpha 10 turbo system on top of a blueprinted engine, with all that horsepower routed through an Alpha 10 transmission. Naturally, just about everything else from the turbo inlet pipes to the fuel injectors to the downpipes have been upgraded or reworked.

The result was a 9.33-second run at 153 miles per hour. That takes 0.56 seconds off AMS' time from March of this year in its GT-R SR850 at the TX2K10 Supra & GTR Nationals. Video footage of the run (completely with overly dramatic music and buildup) is after the jump, and a few shots of the runner itself are in the gallery of images below. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Very cool and all, but I think that video made me want to see Inception again more.

Yeah, that's neat and all but IMO, the difference in performance from what I've seen in some "near-stock" GT-R's isn't worth the effort. Again, this just shows how amazing the GT-R is right from the factory. I still don't really like the car but you have to respect what Nissan has accomplished.

I'm well aware of that. Just think that the GT-R is "technically", quite possibly the most amazing car in the world.

The faster you try to go, the more it takes to get you there..

AMS has done some amazing things with the vehicles they have touched.

      AMS Evos are downright NASTY.

As an Evo owner, I must say, AMS has always put out some pretty nice products and they are supposed to be really good tuners if you have a chance of having your car worked on by them.
That being said, their prices on their "packages" are absolutely ridiculous. Looks like their prices inflated along with their popularity over the years.

Your comment reminded me of the sign posted on the garage of the mechanic in "Mad Max".

"Speed is a question of money. How fast do you want to go?"

I know. Funny you bring them up because i'm going to be ordering a Buschur Racing SS 3" Cat-back w/bullet muffler along with an AMS downpipe & test pipe.
I like their products, but some of them are just ridiculously prices(including the DP).
        Just my opinion.

You gotta pay to play, and AMS just happens to be one of the best tuners out there for the EVO and now possibly the GT-R as well.

Dramatic video, but entertaining...i always get a bit of a sour stomach when i see a car built for so much more getting mauled down a drag strip. Oh well, different strokes.

1100 HP usually Im not for power instead balance...but DEAM!

What a waste of a GT-R, bragging at the drag strip.
This isn't impressive for the numbers if you really think about it. AWD Motorsports down here in Ft. Lauderdale has an EVO GSR that does 8.75@162.80mph (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94coa4VechU) and I'm sure it cost a hell of a lost less to do.

This is another reason why comparing turner cars is a waste of time.
I'm pretty sure cost isn't very high on their priority list... Otherwise they would have went with a foxbody Mustang.
There's probably a 1000lb weight difference between these two cars.......
Um, AMS already has a drag EVO that went quite a bit faster than the EVO you mentioned.

The point of the GT-R package is to retain streetablility while making tons of power.

Inception music and a 9 second GT-R? This may be my favorite thing of all time.
        Seriously...

At first I thought it was a cheesy choice for background music, but the build up to the runs then the actual run footage had me hooked.
