Nissan has released a sketch of the next-generation Versa, and in the process has confirmed the new model will be sold in the United States. The 2011 model benefited from minor equipment and pricing changes, but the next Versa looks to take on much more stylish design language, with the Versa adopting some of the familial lines of its larger Altima and Maxima siblings.

Details are still very limited at this point, in fact we only have the above image and confirmation that this next-gen Versa will be sold here, but with the auto show season just ramping up, we'd expect to see Nissan's new compact bowing at the LA Auto Show this November.

Get use to this style. All cars will be looking similar, as time passes. That is the reason why all the companies are adopting their own corporate look up front, ie: Mazda's stupid smile, Acura's t-bar, etc. Of course, it now seems as though everybody is going with the t-bar at the grill ... ie: Chevy, Subaru, etc. etc. It's all getting ridiculous isn't it?

I don't think that this Versa is too terribly much like the new Elantra.

First off, the Elantra's headlamps gracefully swoop to form a wing, whereas the Versa's headlamps make more of a feather look.
Secondly, the Elantra's new lower grill is much larger than the Versa's, and vice-versa(lol) with the upper grille.
Lastly, the cut lines on the Versa sketch are more masculine than the 2012 Elantra's bubbly, mousey appearance.

With that said, I do like the 2012 Elantra more.

It needs to be good, to compete with the Fiesta.

Actually, the current Versa does a lot better than the new Fiesta. There 3 Versas for every 1 Fiesta sold.

Eh Hyundai? Really? Kinda. First thing I thought of was a Toyota Solara, tho...

What, still can't make the headlights extend right to the windshield? No deal, forget it, not until Nissan figures out finally how to extend the headlights full hood length.

Are you sure that's not a Hyundai ?

Looks like they took 2 seconds to sketch that. But I have to admit it looks better than the current car at the very least.

Yeah, it may be cribbed from the Elantra, but its ages ahead of the disgusting Versa sedan now dribbling around our roads.

I always liked the practicality and usefullness of the current Versa but this looks WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better. Hopefully the actual car will look very close to this artists rendering. I hope it has direct injection and a turbo option. And yeah, a hatchback would be nice too.

I can tell from the pixels and from looking at a lot of cars in my day that this rendering contains significantly less ugly than the current Versa

I must be forgiven for not having drank from the Hyundai well, but I don't see a damn thing about this that reminds me of the upcoming Elantra.

Now, whomever said this Versa has a Volvo look was pretty spot-on.

Wow, that looks a LOT like the upcoming Elantra. Anyone see that or am I crazy?

Regardless, let's just hope that they make it more reliable. The current car isn't reliable (according to CR), and I was nearly killed in one about three years ago on a test drive when the hood opened on the highway when it was 100% completely latched. My best friends girlfriend was driving and there was no possible way that she could have touched the hood release.

Yeah, I read the comments. I was just adding some emphasis...

Thanks for that worthless comment, guy.

Um, did you read ANY of the comments above yours?! Nearly everyone says it looks like the Elantra.
