Volarri Valeta prototype – Click above for image gallery

Everybody and their cousin wants to start their own supercar company. Aside from the major ones that made it, like Enzo Ferrari, Ferdinand Porsche, Ferruccio Lamborghini and even their modern successor Horacio Pagani, the industry is littered with attempts – some more successful than others – to do the same. One such venture was called Volarri. The American outfit was another stab at the stratosphere that didn't make it. But just as science stands on the shoulders of giants, if you want to try your hand at the same, you can pick up where Volarri left off.

This eBay Motors auction isn't just for the car. It includes the prototype, the blueprints, the patents and other properties you'd need to keep the project going. Hundreds of thousands have already been sunken into the ill-fated project before the owner called it quits, but bidding now stands at a reserve-unmet $20k. Have a closer look at the auction page, the details on the aborted automaker's website or the (unfortunately low-res) image gallery below.

Anyone else confused why the prototype has a 3sgte motor from an Mr2 instead of the said LS7 or LS9?

I had a Volare station wagon back in the day... It was NOT a supercar :-)

Looks like it's time for the Hamilton slider... Yep the first super car built specifically for drifting... Or is it a tiny burger?? I dunno.

How about hiring professional designers & fabricators? The pros I know would never let this kind of sloppy form development pass for design fabrication... Low-resolution doesn't just go for the photos in this case, unfortunately.

This is so cool. If I had a lot of money to burn, this would be such an awesome project.

      What about Christian von Koenigsegg?

Spyker? I think Koenigseggs are better than some of those Lamborghinis. And what about Bugatti?

Just wait til they drop a Corvette engine into it. That'll really kill all originality.

Interesting. Looks like a Chrysler ME-Four Twelve crossed with a Mosler...

Why didn't they clean the damn thing before putting it up on ebay? Looking at this guy's ebay history, I think he bought half his prototype there.

Looks like every other supercar these days.

You know how to stand out? Tail fins. I'm serious - big, 59 Caddy style tail fins.

dear any future intendant super car manufacturers please make a car that does not look like a mix of cars released 7 years ago... kthx

Honestly it kinda looks like a mix of Mosler, Lambo and lotus with nothing unique of their own design, hell at least Pagani when were new they had an original look.

Hmm, kinda cool. I'd buy it if I had... You know money, and a vague idea of business.

I think the problem with all these failed companies is that they start with the wrong kind of car. Nobody buys handmade supercars. Everybody buys family sedans. Bring exotica to the average joe car, and you'll have a winner.
