2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS – Click above for high-res image gallery

When we look at the 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, it's hard not to slip away to daydreams of blasting around the Nürburgring channeling Walter Röhrl the whole time. After all, this is Porsche's most powerful 911 yet (that's still street legal!), boasting 620 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six. Getting to 60 miles per hour takes just 3.4 seconds and you'll be doing 205 mph flat out.

All of this goodness plus some matte carbon fiber bodywork and a red Alcantara interior can be yours for $245,000. The line forms to the right.

Check out our live gallery of high-res photos direct from the Paris Motor Show, below.

The proof is in the Nordschleife. What's the time? What are the professional drivers saying about its stability and overall driveability by less-than-professional drivers?

I remember when the 997 GT3 RS came out, I thought there's no way I'd ever want a GT2. Then they did this. I stand corrected.

This thing simply makes me happy to be a human on Earth.

for $250K, i'd get a used Carerra GT instead.

Not to rain on anyone's parade... but doesn't the "normal" TurboS do 0-60 in 3.1 sec?
So, then why is the hardcore, stripped-out, lightweight, and more powerful version (by almost 100hp) slower?
Now I'll admit that I have never been a die-hard Porsche fanboy... but for $85,000 a top speed increase of 9mph seems hardly worth it. I mean if you're truly desperate for that 200 mark aren't you just better off tuning or modifying a Turbo or a TurboS?

The GT2 RS is RWD. It was not build for acceleration. It was built to dominate on race tracks.

But apparently all you look at is price and horsepower, so you will never get it.

This car isn't about beating an AWD in 0 - 60. It's about hanging your a$$ out in an extreme machine while trying to whip through corners on the edge of insanity. No point and shoot video game feeling GT-R here. You're one tenth of one PSI on the gas pedal away from oblivion! Woooooo!

Wow you guy are really on point for the paris show. You write about the interior but then dont show a picture of it . . . . . . really!!

porsche 911 gt2 rs must be tuned by the tech art
and get from this car 1000 hp ,1000 nm,and a top speed of 380km/h
then will be the best team in the word who tuned a normal cars and transform in the most fast and power cars

I love everything about this car except for the tack on front fender flares. I wish Porsche could have designed special one piece flared front fenders for this vehicle. It would have made this car perfect.
that's so true. it would look more like the old wide body 911 race cars. but maybe there are aerodynamic reasons for this shape.

Considering Car and Driver just got a 0-60 time of 2.7 (!!) out of the Turbo S I think the GT2 RS be quicker than what was stated.
AWD + launch control is why the Turbo S has such a quick acceleration time.

the hardest of hardcore, and the scariest of supercars... i want one
        • 4 Years Ago
        Scariest ?

Dont think so... there is nothing scary about this car... a ZR1 is more scary then this.

      I love matte paint.

      I love Porsche GT2's.

      I love carbon fiber.

I love two tone paint schemes.

So how come when the GT2 RS combines all these factors of awesomeness together I'm looking at the car cross eyed ?

Am I the only one who thinks those RIMS (while probably light as a fart) just don't do the car justice ? Color looks off on them. And while I know how over done black and carbon colored wheels are now a days - I did a lil' mental photo shop and man this GT2 needs darker rims to complement the rest of the two tone scheme IMO.

Looks aside - this is the ULTIMATE Porsche. They should require a race license before they allow you to purchase one - or - go through some kind of Porsche performance driver mandated training course.

P.S. PPDMTC minus PDK of course.

First... the car isnt as serious as your making it out to be.. I would take a Carrera GT over this ANY DAY of the week.

This is just a 911 more track focused... oh yea.. two tone can be ugly... this car in a Jet Shiny Black gloss finish would would 10x more sexy then this dull two tone.

I thought the GT2 used the 3.8? Is this a typo, or is the 3.6 have a more robust bottom end or something? Or maybe something completely different?
this is Porsche's goodbye to the old 3.6l engine used in the 1998 LeMans winning GT1 car. the current GT3 is the olny other 911 that still uses that engine , but it's increased to 3.8l .
