Video: Jay Leno's Garage revisits the Tesla Roadster

Tesla Roadster on Jay Leno's Garage, take 2.5 – Click above to watch video after the jump

Jay Leno gets the updated version of the Tesla Roadster, version 2.5, for a spell in the garage, which goes from a two-speed to a single speed transmission, has some revised bodywork front an back, interior upgrades to add more polish and the targa will roll an EPA-certified 245 miles on a charge. Follow the jump for his lengthy take on it, and to hear him compare it to his 1909 Baker Electric.

Apparently, I've been pronouncing Tesla wrong. Jay Leno pronounces it, "Tes-ler."

I'm a savings kind of guy, so my advice to Jay is to use some of your well earned bankable stardom pull to receive a new Tesla Roadster for free under some pretext like helping the poor or some philanthropic reason!
I don't mean to say Jay doesn't help in humanitarian aid but after all this life is very short for everyone so a shift in mindset is the suggestion!
For all those who are rich in this world, I truly counsel to sell all that they have as Jesus has said, & give all the proceeds to the poor & come follow Jesus! -- And I'll make you a fisher of men!
The greatest rewards in the more real Heavenly realm than this earthly plane go to those who get in tune enough to lead others to Jesus & to the poorest materially yet richest spiritually!
Many in this life are poor materially, because they are constantly giving their riches away to help somebody in poverty. Unselfishness is the earmark of Christianity for a reason! -- To make a more just fairer better world, not so much rich & poor along side each other but more uniform like the Land of not too much where everyone has enough but not too much!
As the Bible says: Let everything be done in moderation! The flesh is never satisfied but always begs for more and more.
This is why we as Christians are regulated by God's Words & ideas not so much rules that limit greed!
All men are the same and need controls over their unregulated spirit like having Jesus in your heart that convicts you to find the balance. arch

Just because a person makes a lot of money and is rich, doesn't make him greedy. You need to fix your argument.

Look at it this way, the more money one has, the more resources he has to help others. If he has a lot of money and income, he helps himself and his fellow man.

I was aware I missed a lesser but perhaps wiser alternative you suggest for those who were more effective where they were in society. In Jesus' life, He had many friends who were not full time followers walking the dusty roads in sandals with Him
but who had wealth that they were able to bring to bear to help others as Christians do after His own example of giving even to the cross giving the ultimate...His life for us all!
In so doing Salvation & receiving God's Spirit was revealed.

Usually Jay talks a lot, sometimes over the other person. I'm saying that as a complaint, but as an observation leading to my other observation...

Jay didn't say too much here... seemed to be content to enjoy the scenery. I wonder why =p

What's that analogy with sex? Totally confused.

Tesla is a great car from a geek's pov. I am an engineering geek and I love it. But the fact remains that we won't change our lifestyle for this car. Case in pt, we run low on fuel, we pull into a nearby gas station and we are out of there in 5 to 10mins max.

Even if we have a charging station at every corner, we can't possibly get a full charge in under 10mins. That's just not the way it works. Which is why the hybrids work so well now with minimal lifestyle compromises.

Fuel cell cars on the other hand can retain the lifestyle with a less than 10min top up.

You definitely have to plan your outings better than a regular or hybrid car.

But most people don't drive the night to morning period and would charge the car then.
Plus, I would guess this car would be a second vehicle in a rich person's garage to take when one feels like it.
By the time this type of car becomes affordable to the masses, I would hope the full charge time to possibly be cut in half with the range increasing even more thus making the issue pretty much irrelevant...

Battery packs should be homogenized. It would be great if I could pull into a "Gas Station" with my electric car and swap out packs.
