Tesla's recently hired vice president of design and store development, George Blankenship, the man known as the mastermind behind Apple's highly successful retail strategy, has big dreams to expand sales operations of the electric sportscar maker and it all begins with a showroom in Paris. Blankenship will elaborate on Tesla's sales strategy at the opening of the Paris Motor Show on October 1st, but prior to that, the company hopes to swing open the doors of its Paris showroom on the Avenue Kleber near the famed Arc De Triomphe and let the French see what they've been missing out on.
For Tesla, the opening of the Paris showroom is part of the company's efforts to bring its Roadster to the buyers, which are mainly upper-class individuals with a passion for driving and a commitment to going green. Tesla plans additional showrooms in Washington, D.C. and Tokyo, Japan, but the Paris one is first in line. With the opening of the Paris showroom, Tesla will have 14 retail stores worldwide, but expansion efforts should raise that number in no time.
