2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK – Click above for high-res image gallery

We've been staring at spy shots of the forthcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK for months, but now we have our best look yet at what Benz' baby coupe will look like once the camo tape is peeled away.

The grille gets a nose job to match its larger SLS AMG sibling, and the photo above reveals it to be a more pleasing aesthetic than in previous shots. Also, it seems the new SLK wants to play with the cool kids who are all wearing LED running lights.

If our intel holds up, the reason behind the larger grille isn't just to mimic the gorgeous gullwing, but to feed the new 476 horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. If that mill is going in any SLK, it'll be wearing an AMG badge on the back, and we're hoping to get a better look when we stop by the Mercedes-Benz booth at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

not to beat a dead horse, but that groove in the hood looks very hyundai sonata-esque.

Eh... It looks ok. I guess. So far the first SLK is still my fav. Im not going to judge this till it's finish but I'm not that crazy about the SLS grill... anywhere

P.S. Seems there is a common theme on. A lot of folks here believe that all the automakers are copying Hyundai's Sonata styling cues....

      Too funny!

The outside looks like a refresh, but the interior looks like a mini SLS, which can't be a bad thing to me.

Maybe if BMW stopped making Z4s, and Porsche killed the Boxter, and the TT met its demise . . .

I'd put this ahead of the Z4 AND the TTS. The Z4 has veered so far away from the Z3 that now it's but a bloated "sports" car that doesn't really do anything particularly well. If I wanted luxury ride in a small 2 door coupe(which is itself an oxymoron) the SLK fits the bill well enough. And judging from the recent revision of various smaller AMGs, such as the E and C63, the next gen SLK 55(or whatever they call it) should be tuned well enough to not be far behind the CS when road starts curving. And before you say that the SLK's interior is pretty crappy, the new one as spotted here is a vast improvement over the old, and should be on-par if not better than the current C, which is actually decent.

Looking much better than the old one. I was expecting a more dramatic restyle though. This would probably look a bit dated in a few years

the first SLK still looks good and i really like this new one. the previous model doesn't look good and it will depreciate really fast. i'm buying a first gen facelift model for my sister's graduation present.

      SLK AMG with 476hp...sweeeet.

If only this came with a manual transmission, it'd be on my list. Unfortunately, the auto enthusiast is a dying breed.

The automatic shifts lightening quick in the AMG models, it really isn't that bad.

Need to do something use to see these all over the place now pretty rare

I drive a current gen SLK and i wouldn't be caught dead in this new one. Like the SLS inspired interior though and the new generation of MB engines are somewhat superior to what's under my hood. Suppose it's time for me to move up/skip a market segment, start up my own business and gun for an SLS

      make it go away please
        @zapperdude60
Fear not! It will never be released.

Mercedes' new slogan is "the best or nothing". So it we'll get nothing for sure.

        That front is Fugly!!!
