2012 Jaguar XF spy shots – Click above for high-res image gallery

It feels like Jaguar's renaissance has only just begun, and here's the sedan that started it all, already prepping for its own renaissance. The Jaguar XF, in line to be fitted with some tailoring taken from the XJ's handsome suit of sheetmetal, was caught again stretching its legs in the desert. The exterior changes won't be radical, but expect a smattering of fascia work and some tweaking of lines and light clusters out back, along with some revised and refined interior elements.

      The Jags of today are nothing like the days of old as some folks above have said. I once saw a Hyundai on the road and mistook it (briefly!) for a Jag. Now, if that doesn't say something, well......it's really a shame because they really did stand out....a long time ago.

      Surely you joke ??? Jaguar now owned by Tata Motors is a 'tatty' looking 'me too' plastic and fake wood veneer POS. Anyone who has owned a Jaguar from the 1988 model to the present day hyped up 'me too' admits that the brand has turned into an unrecognizable glob of plastic and fake 'wood' that peels off the first year. Ford was their undoing. They turned every Jaguar into a Taurus and even the Ford CEO called the brand a 'dog'. The unique Jaguar design stopped in the 1988 model year. Having owned several I will never buy another Jaguar because they are just overpriced 'me too's' with NOTHING special to offer for their inflated price.

        Wow what a bitter old curmudgeon rant. Don't forget to yell at the neighbor hood kids to quit making so much noise. I have worked with cars and motorbikes since the 80s I do not know of them that make them the same way. As for Jaguar being a me too I think that was part of the Ford way to maximize the return for as little being spent as possible. Tata is genuinely interested in having something world class from what I can tell and from what my dealer friends who deal with them seem to be happy too. Enjoy your cars and your bikes too and always remember the only constant is change.

      LOVE THE ART WORK DESIGN. DON'T LIKE THE NEW JAG BODY STYLE ANY MORE. JAG LOOKS LIKE EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. WHAT MADE A JAG A JAG WAS ITS UNIQUE BODY STYLE. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!! STAND OUT IN THE CROWD LIKE YOU USED TO!!

        @SUNSHINE
        We completely agree with Sunshine. We have owned 8 Jaguars over the years and will keep these as they have a distinctive body style. They have ruined the Jaguar body -- particularly the Vanden Plas.

      booooooo-ring... unless jag-u-are disguised the body panels more than just the swirly-twirly graphics???

      it looks like some pukey chrysler from the 90's.

      Special? It looks like a Ford Taurus

      A Jag isn't a Jag without the Leaper on the hood. Can anyone explain why they dropped the best vehicle icon ever created? Seems like a stupid marketing move. I'll stick to my perfect 96 XJS, and let the Leaper lead me down the road.

      I'd say they've shot themselves in the foot on this one. It looks like a Taurus because it IS a Taurus! Nothing has changed. The only "takers" will be those who want to call attention to themselves and after awhile, the repo man will be knocking at their door!

      The new "Jag" looks more like and old Ford Taurus tripping on LSD !

      Surely you jest! That thing is downright ugly!

      What happened to the beautiful Jaguar shape? It doesn't even look like a Jag anymore. Just looks like every other sedan on the highway. Disappointing and boooooooooring.

      This is your car on drugs. Any questions?
