Kia Soul Tiger Edition? We think not – Click above for high-res image gallery

User AiboPet over at the SoulHamsters forum happened upon one very interesting Kia Soul Sport while cruising the Kia North America fleet lot recently. The boxy hatch was caught wearing some unique vinyl graphics, complete with tiger stripes down both sides and large paw print on its hind-end. While the forum immediately caught fire with the notion that Kia is planning yet another special-edition version of its youth-oriented crossover, the truth may be a little tamer.

Kia tells Autoblog that it has no plans to roll out a new Tiger Edition Soul, nor will any other big-cat themed models be available from dealers anytime soon. Sorry, feline fans.

Of course, that doesn't exactly answer what's up with this particular graphics package. Kia says that when the company's designers are done with special show-circuit jobs, it just parks them outside with the rest of its testers. This could be a stillborn special edition or a SEMA package that never made it to the show floor. Your guess is as good as ours. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

The GMC Granite would be cool if its left that way in concept form.

The Soul needs to be AWD to fully win me over and it seems many want the same option.

shouldn't it be orange on black or vise-versa?

I was just thinking the other day, why haven't American automakers cashed in on the "quirky box car" segment yet? I see these, xbs, and cubes everywhere. Dodge had that hornet concept a while back but that went nowhere. What about ford and chevy? Or how about VW with a "Mini" VW Bus?

They seem to have more dignity than that. Potential profits be damned!

I'm looking forward to the GMC Granite.

Flex is blocky but it's not in the same segment. I don't think anyone cross shops a 7 seat $30,000 car with a 5 seater sub $15,000 economy car.

I really hope Kia decides at some point to put the 2.0L turbo in the Soul. I would love to have a small practical box with some speed. Plus it would probably get better mileage than the current motor considering the mileage that the Sonata gets from that engine.

I never realized how tiny these were until I parked next to one at Target this past weekend. Interior looks a bit cheap, even for a Kia.
