Making of Nissan Leaf "Polar Bear" spot – Click above to watch video after the jump

If your only reaction to Nissan's recent "Polar Bear" ad was "Awwwwww," then the making-of video the automaker released today might not be up your alley. If, instead, it was, "Awwwwwww. Now, wait, how did they do that?" then take a look after the jump to watch a short clip that shows how a trained polar bear named Aggie – seen in movies like Out Cold – made the journey from the Arctic to hug that Leaf driver.

For most of the minute-long spot, the polar bear you see is the real deal. For the night shot of the bear crossing the bridge, though, a digital stand-in was used because the bear was asleep. Celebrities. And Nissan didn't put any actors in danger for the closing shot, asking Aggie's trainer to get up close and personal with the bear. Since he's used to it, it wasn't a big deal. But it's still pretty cute. Will it be effective? Well, that's another issue.
