The Lancia Stratos fully shows itself – Click above for a high-res image gallery

We've already seen the new Lancia Stratos from various angles, just never enough of them at one go. Finally, we've got a complete picture of the retro racer made new. Knowing there's a 483-horsepower engine from a Ferrari F430 underneath all that carbon fiber bodywork, and a shortened chassis, the remaining mysteries concern the interior and how the Stratos performs.

So now that we've come to the bittersweet end of the striptease, someone cue up the video and let's see her shimmy. In the meantime, have a fuller gander at the Lancia Stratos in the gallery of high-res photos below.

I really want to like this design, but it feels/looks like an economy car, but with a price that will be anything but. And yes, I know it's historical significance.

      Awesome.
The only downside will be the pricing/exclusivity.

Say what you will about the car's design; its obviously polarizing. The design is purely without compromise and I, for one, love it.

But good luck hating on those wheels. It won't even be believable.
Its also pretty cool that the rear ones are more inset than the front ones.

I don't like it. It's so retro in a bad way. It's like Ferrari Testarossa meets Mazda Cosmo or something. I just don't get it. Modern cars must be slick, not thick!

Its not pretty but there's something about it that I just like, kind of like the old Stratos

I must have hit the "previous post" button too many times. Am I in 1991?

OK it's official...I want to have sex with this car, and I want to violate it as much as it violates me. You have been warned...look away while you can.

Ya I'll take mine in white with a red interior, and a few rally status lights in the front :P

I don't care if I "don't get it", or how this car is a new-retro take on a classic car, but that thing is ugly. It is ugly, it has ugly proportions, and if it was shown in a world where the old stratos never existed, you guys would revile it.

Well I don't know anything about the original Stratos; I guess I'm just too young, but I still think it looks absolutely fantastic.

Eye of the beholder, I guess. I can't address the "what if" part of your scenario because I remember the first time I saw the original and fell in love with its cartoonishly brilliant shape and proportions. As a rally car, it's an amazing combination of function (short overhangs, wide track, low center of gravity, just enough room to surround its necessary equipment and occupants in an aerodynamic wedge, though I always wondered what having six lamps standing on the pointed nose did to aero figures).

The only things I don't like about the new one are the "sad frog" eyes and that it's not already sitting in my garage. That and the ongoing worry that all the great car designs have already been drawn and there's nothing left to look forward to except retro remakes. Then I'll be the one with the sad frog face.

I don't like the front end of this car.

^ that looks like half a foreskin..

@Vlad... I'm with you. I'm just not understanding all the interest in this car. To me, the design is very 80's retro. I get the car probably handles like a dream and can beat just about anything off the line, but I'm just not digging the style. I may be a minority in this matter, I just can't get past the doorstop/80's style...

The front end is startlingly raw. It seems completely devoid of ornamentation short of what looks like a place for an eventual Lancia badge. I 'm inclined to applaud this straightforward approach, though there is hint of kit-car about it. The roof spoiler also takes getting used to. I'd like it a lot better if it was functional as the original certainly was.

+1. It doesn't seem that it'll be very pedestrian friendly either.
What a beauty! I'll take it in white, please.
I love this modern interpretation of the classic Stratos. I think that there is nothing retro about it as the original Stratos doesn't even look all that dated to me.
Now if this could be at Chrysler dealerships with a nice blown 3.6 V6 at about 350HP comparable in price to a 370Z you could sign me up!
