Take a close look at the entire lineup of 2009 and 2010 Dodge cars and trucks and you'll notice one thing they all have in common: the Dodge emblem is represented as a Ram's head. So what's the problem? While you could spend hours debating the merits of its recent strategy, the Chrysler Mothership has chosen to separate the Dodge brand into separate car and truck entities, and the newly launched Ram Truck brand will soldier on using that same Ram Head. Which means Dodge needs a new identity.
The first step Chrysler took to create a new corporate identity for Dodge was a new logo that will be used in marketing materials, but it won't serve as an actual emblem on the vehicles. There's plenty of online speculation as to what Dodge will use as its next emblem, or if it will in fact choose to go... um, naked. So far, all the spy shots of 2011 Dodge models have been seen sans logo or emblem, sporting only the Dodge name spelled out with individual chrome lettering.

So, what does all of this mean? Well... we really have no idea. But we're interested in hearing what you all have to say. Take a good look at the potential new emblem on the right and then take part in our entirely unscientific poll below.

What I want to see is the OLD SCHOOL emblems brought back. We also need the Penstar on one front fender and a line of Hot cars called Plymouth!

I was happy with the old Pentastar logo used many years ago. Allpar has some photos of Dodge emblems used over the years:

I might add that Chrysler should have spun off their truck division to just "Dodge Trucks" instead of "Ram Trucks."

I also think the use of overstylized emblems by automakers is getting old. I would prefer a simple emblem that said "DODGE" on the rear of the vehicle and a couple of Pentastar logos lower on the front fenders. Plain, simple, yet effective. Maybe they could do away with the "CORPORATE GRILLE" too and give the designers some room to do something different with the front end of each vehicle like they did the Challenger.

greenz1977, I agree on the corporate grille. It's a weak grille design (especially since it originated with the Chrysler 300F in 1960) and hardly associated either with the most iconic Dodge models ('70 Challenger, '69 Charger, any Dart, etc.), or among the most iconic grilles in automotive history (Rolls-Royce, Packard, Bugatti, etc.). Seems more like a styling burden than a brand icon.

Even sillier to make a logo from a stylized version of your grille. I mean, think about it, where do carmakers put their largest badge on a car? In the grille! So then maybe the logo of the grille should have a logo of the grille in it, with an even tinier logo of the grille in that, to infinity? :)

The Pentastar was never the logo for any brand within the Chrysler Corporation, it was the logo of the corporation itself, just like the GM logo. That's why you saw it on Chryslers, Plymouths, Dodges and later, Jeeps, until the Daimler "merger of equals." It was phased out (it took a while to use up all the radios, keyfobs, etc.) from 1998 to 2001, until Cerberus brought it back (again as the corporation's logo).

They should put President Obamas face on the emblem.

obama's face? I wouldn't even buy toilet paper if it had his face on it. he's not worth the crap it would be cleaning.
Now a put it on a target practice sheet, I'd buy a pack!

I bet you the emblem shown above will be used in the mean time on products not getting a major refresh, and going forward they won't use an emblem, just the "D O D G E" lettering seen on the Challenger.

it looks kind of dark and medieval but hey sometimes that is good. I don't think it will be as recognizable or as useful as the ford logo or Chevy though.

I thought this joke of an American car company is bankrupt? Silly Americans and their car companies...

...another poll just to spark up people's interest in a lost hope...

Like the Fratzog. Looks good and foward. Dunno why Ram doesnt get rollled into Jeep. I'd like to see a Ram (Gladiator?) or Dakota (Commanche?) With the 7 Slot grille!

I do think the Ram emblem should be reserved for the trucks but I wouldn't want any new Dodge product to sport that fictional emblem. Looks like a design reject from the early 80s. I don't mind the name simply spelled out on the trunk lid...nothing wrong with that.

Have a design contest and give the winner a new viper. If you have a 10 finalist line up where voting happened online, and then have the final winner among the 10 decided by the corporate heads, they would atleast have some clue as to what would be accepted by the public.
