Click above to watch the video after the jump

Codemasters' F1 2010 doesn't appear to be getting the same kind of press as Gran Turismo 5 or even DiRT 3, but a recently released in-game video could change that. The upcoming Formula 1 game is scheduled to hit stores in September, complete with damn-near photo-realistic gaming action that has us drooling. And we're not talking about those fanciful panning, aerial beauty shots that you see in some of the theatrical-looking promos for games. This is actual in-car, live racing footage. In the rain. Hit the jump to experience F1 2010 from the virtual cockpit of a Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 car.

I wish I could go back in time with this game 15 or 20 years ago and watch people's faces. We are pretty spoiled now when we look at this game and our complaint is that the water droplets aren't moving accurately on the visor. I'm 49 and have been gaming since Pong came out and (racing-gaming) since Intellevision Racing. I remember the old F1 games when slow-down was so bad you almost stopped off of the grid, but still had fun racing. I'm not going to complain about this game unless Codemasters totally drops the ball, which for as much fun as they have delivered my old butt over the years, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

One feature I'm excited about is that you are like the real driver, not the mechanic. They set the car up for you, and you give input to get it tweeked to your liking. I think a lot of guys who don't have jobs or a family can spend hours on set-ups, but what time I have, I want to be racing. Not to mention a true simulation for a race car driver would be that way anyway, that's the way it is for them. Give the game a chance!

I don't know... the TOCA Race Driver series was amazing for it's time, even by todays standards. Grid and Dirt, however, have silly arcade pivot-based physics that are OK for a game like GTA IV... but are out of place in serious racing games. That does keep the kiddies who don't know how to drive happy though, an easy transition from Mario Kart I guess. I'll still give this game a chance if a demo will be made available on xbox live.

I'm wondering why the water droplets stay put when he's traveling at over 200 mph. Some windswept effects would have been more realistic.

Other than that minor detail it looks amazing.

First thing I'd do is turn off the inane comments from the pit chief, but wow, that is cool looking.

I can't wait for this game to come out. By far the darkhorse of this year. Will it outsell GT5? maybe since its multi-platform and a sport loved around the world by millions.

This looks great! I'm definitely picking this up!

Even if it's only half-decent I still consider it worth buying since it's the only opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car and actually be in that environment. I don't particularly car if the rain droplets move or not, as long as the game plays as well as Forza that's all I care about.
