Turns out Italiaspeed had it right: the remade Lancia Stratos spotted on a Fiat test track in Milan is a coachbuilt one-off for a European client, and has nothing to do with Fenomenon. As the story goes, a certain unnamed industrialist asked Pininfarina – not Bertone, the Stratos' original designer – to pen a body with a traditional front end true to the icon.

Of several tips we've received on the car, one stated that the body would fit over a greatly-shortened Ferrari F430 chassis and retain the F430's V8, "so just like the original car it will try and kill you." Although this isn't the best news for anyone hoping for a Stratos revival, we can't wait to see this bespoke Stratos on display at some future show. Hat tip to Lindz.

When I first loaded the page and say this picture, I went "YAY!". When I read the article, I went "ARGH!".

The Stratos is my favorite car design. Hey Lancia, please make one so I can illegally import it to the states, and make sure it looks better than your recent cars.

The recent pictures of this car look like a screenshot of a monitor showing Gran Turismo 5. It looks very much like CGI, especially the intense "bloom" effects of such games around the rims and the plants in the foreground

that's one BEAUTIFUL design. It's radical as heck, powerful, athletic, timeless and very attractive. I'd take this over a Lambo, porsche, Ferrari, etc. Only one car is king over it for me: Mclaren F1.

You can buy the Corse Stratos replica kit from Manik Technologies in Texas for $22,000:
      http://www.manikllc.com/corse.html

Install the V6 engine you like, paint it the colors you want, etc.
The brochure says that 400 hours required for the assembly. Also, Ferrari and Alfa engines are rare in the USA.

Aaaaaaaawww!! Considering that the Staratos' business case would have been weak, I didn't have that much of a high expectation though...

There are only two sports cars in all of automotive history with truly iconic designs: the Porsche 911 and the Lancia Stratos
