In a move that will likely shock the motorcycling world, Think, makers of the tiny City EV, snatched up Michael Lock, former chief executive officer of Ducati North America and assigned him to the post of chief marketing officer. If you're anything like us, then your probably shaking your head at this one and wondering why a former CEO of one of the world's most prestigious motorcycle companies would aspire to join a small electric car company. Well, as Lock said regarding his decision to join Think:
Think has some of the most sophisticated electric vehicle technology on the market, with potential to become a household name as demand for EVs grows in cities all over the world. I am encouraged by the initial customer response to the Think City, and believe this is a solid foundation for growth as the company embarks on a focused roll-out of its first urban offering, and plans for future vehicle generations.
Think CEO Richard Canny added a few words highlighting Lock's importance to the team:
Michael has an impressive track record of establishing premium brands in new markets. He joins Think at a time when we are significantly expanding our global reach, moving beyond Europe to address the significant opportunities we are seeing open up in the US and China. Attracting talent like Michael is testimony to how much Think has grown, and we are truly excited about the value he can create at such a pivotal time.
We sure hope that Lock can successfully incorporate a bit of that Ducati greatness into every Think product that rolls off the line. Follow the jump to learn more about Lock's recent move to Think.
