Eaton Corporation's work with hybrid electric drive systems for the commercial industry is virtually unmatched. Recently, Eaton announced its selection of Compact Power, a U.S. subsidiary of Korean company LG Chem, as a battery supplier for future Eaton hybrid products. As vice president for Eaton's Hybrid Power Systems Division Dimitri Kazarinoff stated:
The demand for hybrid commercial vehicles will continue to grow globally, and LG Chem and CPI have made important advancements in battery technology and future production capability here in western Michigan. This technology is a key part of Eaton's strategy to meet the future demand of our customers worldwide. Additionally, we're proud to be a key player in helping to bring these new technologies and jobs to Michigan.
Eaton's hybrid electric drive systems are featured in fleet vehicles used by companies like UPS, FedEx, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Walmart. In addition, many utility and telecom companies scattered across the globe use vehicles that feature Eaton's hybrid system. Eaton claims that worldwide use of its hybrid system has helped to save 1.5 million gallons of fuel while also eliminating 15,000 tons of emissions to date.
