Off-road racing fans will no doubt be familiar with the name Ivan "Ironman" Stewart, winner of 17 Baja 500s and three Baja 1000s over his 37-year career. Apparently, even an iron man can only take so much pounding and Stewart has decided it's time to ride off silently into the sunset.

Stewart has decided to auction virtually all of his off-road racing memorabilia, race truck building business and vehicles. Instead of pounding dirt, Stewart will be peddling electric bicycles out of a new shop in San Diego, California.

The Ivan Stewart Electric Bike Center will sell, service and rent battery-powered bicycles from an initial shop in downtown San Diego, followed by two additional stores in La Jolla and Del Mar to the north.

Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road! One of the greatest arcade games ever. Always loved the four steering wheels that would just spin and spin!

I went to high school in the 80's with both of his younger sons. Nice family. I wish them all the best of luck in their new venture.

Everyone's got a dream, even race truck drivers. Its just ironic that the Ironman's dream was to retire and sell electric bicycles.

VERY VERY NICE 4 Runner !

Toyota should offer some of these off-road parts from factory

If the Toyota livery and sponsorship are any clue, this coincides with Toyota's deluge of woes.

Who cares about the frick'n arcade game? I raced Class 12 MiniMag back in the late 1980's. Ivan, unlike Walker Evans, was a gentleman of a racer and as quick as they came. He and Robby Gordon the fastest out there, bar none!

But I gotta ask.... ELECTRIC BICYCLES.....?

I distinctively recall back in the late 80's a computer game featuring this guy "Ironman" it was a little topographical view with small trucks you race around a track... it was a lot of fun back on those days of early home PC's! Anyone else remember?

@glassfin: Ah you are right! I forgot there was an arcade game too.... And it had the steering wheels that never locked in each direction, so you could spin it while going around a corner! I remember the "Nitro" boost lol sometimes it would send the truck flying out of the map... Good times!

Haha, that was the first thing I was going to mention too. Word association: Ivan Ironman Stewart. NES racing game!
