N.Technology Porsche Panamera touring car – Click above to watch video after the jump

We're guessing that Porsche had to do some head scratching when it came to figuring out which motorsports arena would best suit its big Panamera. After all, the company prides itself on forging its wares in the fire of competition. Heck, it even managed to find a suitable arena for the high-riding Cayenne in the Trans-Siberia Rally. Fortunately, it didn't take long for the scientists at Stuttgart to locate a racing league that would suit the portly Porsche's talents: The N.Technology team chose to campaign a modified version of the fast four-door in the Italian Supercar series.

The field is made up of other massive bruisers, complete with front-mounted V8 power plants. On any given race day, you can easily see a Chrysler 300C tango with a Maserati Quattroporte – something that few other race leagues on the planet can boast. Evidently, the big Panamera is off to a good start – the car managed to take the checkered flag on its very first outing. We haven't been able to lay our hands on any footage of the N.Technology car dishing out heaping spoonfuls of hurt to the rest of the field, but we have found a quick clip of last year's season for a little taste of incredibly compelling action. Hit the jump to see for yourself.

Porsche may not be the best designers, but they sure knock it out the park with engineering. Kudos.

I love the whole concept behind this series. Having the 300c and Maser Quattro definitely set it apart from most. (I think the SpeedGT series is the closest?) They need to throw some asian flavor in there. Imagine... GT2'esque Hyundai Genesis, Lexus GS or LS, Infinity M56. International heavyweight V8 throwdown!

"Uh the stands are empty..." Have you guys been to a real road race? Few people sit in the stands for the whole race. If you do, you won't see much of it. At Le Mans, people sit in the stands for the start and finish, otherwise they're standing at different points of the track. You wander around the course, like the guy with the camera did. What does it matter if the tape was practice, qualifying or the race? The action is what's important.
NASCARP fans, even at the couple of road courses they go to are accustomed to just sitting in one spot all day from all the ovals they run.

Action is nothing if no one is watching the race.
I'm not defending NASCAR but where are the fans?
Didn't see any in the stands.
Didn't see any in the infield. Where are they?

I've been to plenty ALMS events. And guess what, fans in the stands.

You can keep the Panamera. I want one of those 300C touring cars. THAT's an OG track toy ...
Yeah...I noticed that 300C also. It and the Merc's sounded angry as hell!
That 300c looks so out of place... but that makes it so much cooler. Hauler Baller.

Take note, NASCAR. Who wouldn't want to see real Taurus SHOs, Mustangs, Challengers and Chargers going after each other? Toyota can throw in a Camry too if they want.

it's a Porsche, winning races is in it's DNA.

God help the tire and fuel consumption.

One of the reasons I didn't buy an M6 convertible. I'll stick with my M3 cabrio.
        911 is more than enough.

But I'll bet the Pana will do Porsche's bottom line a lot of good, same as the Cayenne.

I'll take that XF behind the two Audi's at 0:14.

This is an amazing series! But the 300C, even completely decked out in racing spec, is still lame. I hope Chrysler doesn't use this as an excuse to claim it's "track tested" now.

      The noise! Just..the noise!

It's like combine racing for the suburban set.

Uh, anyone else notice the stands were empty?
Was that a race or practice session?
