Pagani Zonda R runs the 'Ring – Click above to watch video after the jump

The visuals to go with the "record." Pagani blasted its Zonda R over the Nürburgring for the purposes of testing production components. Removing all the mystery from the endeavor, the in-car video shows the view out the window as the driver of the R resets yet another bar at 6:47. We put "record" in quotes simply because this flier isn't road legal, so we're in all kinds of gray area. But it beat the Ferrari 599XX, and that's feat unto itself. Follow the jump for the sights and sounds.

The time was 6:47 not 6:27, but aside from that I think I just wept a little :(.

Again I'm surprise why anyone would gushed over a car that worth in the millions that isn't any faster than Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Neither the 599xx nor the Zonda R are street legal which put them clearly against cars like the aforementioned Porsche (even the RSR would run cheaper) and the Audi R8 LMS/GT3.

Although there's no official timing for the GT3 Cup on the North Loop course, the car runs the full 25km course in the 8:30s (see this year's 24 hour race training run result). If you subtract the 1 minute and 45 seconds this car would normally do on the shorten GP (the loop normally use for the 24 hour race) course, you'll have timing that supersedes either of these supercars. Let's not forget that the 8 minutes and 30 seconds is normally done on a course filled with other race cars (even the training run). Yes, I've brought this up before when 599xx broke the "record". And for those wondering- the 911 GT3 Cup can be had for around $200,000 (US).

That is pretty cool, but the car is more full on race car than street car.

Simply amazing, Pagani has only been on the scene for a decade and they really have stepped up and challenged Ferrari seriously and been building original pracing horse killers.

what else to say? This car is absolutely gorgeous in every way. Just looking at the engine pics in the gallery really gives you an idea of just what attention to detail is for the most scrupulous car builders.

The tach in the steering wheel, i love it. Does anyone know if that is a first of its kind that Pagani Patented?

Either that guy is a giant or that Zonda has perhaps the smallest passenger compartment of any car....ever.

I love the rev counter in the middle of the steering wheel and the nearly half-circle sized paddle shifters...

I love the part at 6:13 lap time, 6:19 video time, where the camera pointed at the driver catches him tightening his seat belts for the top speed bit. I would have wanted to check them too but I'd be way to scared to take my hand off the wheel.
