Tiff Needell scares the life out of Jason Plato – Click above to watch video after the jump

We revel in watching someone get their wits scared out of them in the passenger seat of a car. It's why we take the time to watch Subaru's slew of new ads for the 2011 WRX STI sedan any time we're feeling down. It would appear that we're in good company. During filming of a somewhat recent episode of the UK's Fifth Gear, Tiff Needell was charged with scooting the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet around the show's test course with Jason Plato in the passenger seat. Based on the outtakes, it looks as if it took a few tries to get Plato around the course without a profusion of expletives.

It's no secret that Needell is one of the hottest shoes around when it comes to coaxing big speed from a vehicle. With a racing resume packed with references to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Formula One, the guy could run the wheels off a shopping cart. Hit the jump to see Tiff make Plato hold on for dear life. Thanks for the tip, Brad!

The Audi R8 IS TRASH... idc how good it looks or care about that Audi badge its wearing and I will be the first to admit it.

It loses to the 911.. loses to the GTR.. cant beat any ferrari or lambo.. isnt hard core enough or impressive enough.. I guess the only points are 1) It looks cool 2) It looks cool. The R8 is a car for people who want to look good and nothing else really. The fact Audi just threw a Lambo engine from their parts bin in the R8 and used the old 4.2 v8 from the older RS4 goes to show how little thought and effort they are putting into their.

I dont think I ever seen the R8 beat any other supercar on a track.

Not a big fan of the Fifth Gear crew. They sound gay for cars, to be honest.

@ NinetySixVert , so you don't care about what 3 race drivers (Tiff , Jason and Vicky) have to say about cars. i guess you value the opinions of the TG team more, opinions which will change in the next episode.

if tiff's campiness makes you uncomfortable, you might have some personal issues to work out.

Okay, not very nice, but it made me laugh, and isn't that the point of comments? :-)

My favorite TN quote: "Le Mans is just the most brilliant event. I've done it 14 times, finishing 3rd in 1990. Ask me how fast I've driven and it's 230mph down the Mulsanne Strait... ask me how fast I've ever crashed at and it's 230mph down the Mulsanne Strait."

...so he had 75 MPH worth of leeway in this video.

Nothing bad with fifth gear, but you people better download (from Final Gear) or watch the newest Top Gear(episode 5).
That got all kind of epic written on it.

Clarkson did it better, by using a better car (audi R8) with a better passenger (sexy blonde woman)

And about 10 seconds after he drove the R8 V10 Spyder he drove a 911 Turbo Cabriolet. I love Top Gear and all but this was hilarious.
