Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell tries to outdo David Coulthard in the SLS AMG – Click above to watch video after the jump

David Coulthard was called to the Isle of Man to pilot an SLS AMG for a scene in a 3-D film. To ensure that DC could strut the coupe's stuff, some of the island's roads were closed to the public. That meant a place with no speed limits also had no traffic. And that meant Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell felt the need to join DC and take the wheel himself. His goal: beat David's top speed of 160 miles per hour. The sound of him making the effort alone is worth following the jump for the video.

You haven't been here long, but you've managed to mention Lexus in every single post you've made so far. We get it... your name already made it clear: you're a self proclaimed Lexus fanboy. But seriously, if you're just gonna come trolling all the time, you may as well save us all the trouble & go away... unless trolling for Lexus is all you're capable of, & if that's the case, we'll just ignore your posts... or just rank you down & ridicule your posts & hopefully have a laugh or two at your expense.

I have to wonder if needles (Needell) would still call the SLS a Ferrari beater after a spin in 599 GTO??

Having never driven anything this fast, I'll probably just throw up and fall off the first corner. :(

An IS might be more affordable to drive, maintain and insure but once over the sticker shock, insurance shock and its veracious appetite for fuel, my bet is that an SLS would be more fun to drive.

The SLS has a great sound, reminds me of a old A/C Cobra.

Wow...Lexus's smallest motor in a 3 series wannabe and you call that fun to drive? lol

If you said Lexus ISF, fine your comment would maybe make sense, even though the SLS and ISF are completely different monsters.

But an IS250. Seriously. Just no.

I saw a red one parked a week ago here in Toronto.

It is quite stunning and very wide! Photos and videos dont do this car justice, you have to see its beauty in person and just how .. big it is lol.

A Toyota? Why would you want a Toyota over this Mercedes?

My goodness the SLS sounds fantastic. Hey David I'll take your spare if you don't want it!
