2012 Mercedes SLK AMG – Click above for high-res image gallery

And even the least of them shall not be forgotten. After catching the Mercedes-Benz GL and C-Class Coupe parading around in camouflage last week, our shooters have caught the next-generation SLK AMG out and about. The roadster appears set to receive the upright, SLS-inspired projecting grille being spread throughout the family, and there will undoubtedly be some LEDs in those headlight clusters. The mirror stalks move to the doors and there are quad pipes out back, but based upon what we see here, that's a pretty tame sill skirt for an AMG model.

Under the hood, our shooter said he heard what sounded like a naturally aspirated V8, not the twin-turbo V6 that's been rumored before. Either way, word still persists that there will be a jump of 100-plus horsepower, from the current 330 355 to a possible 476. Inside will be more touches from the SLS for an overdue lifting of the SLK's cabin game. We should see it naked and roaring some time next year. Have a look at it for now in our gallery of high-res photos below.

I thought so too until I looked at the title. LOL
I hope it looks significantly different from dodge once the tapes are off.

Hey people check out the interior!http://static.blogo.it/autoblog/mercedes-slk-ecco-il-posto-guida/merc_slk_interior_1.jpg
Doesn't it look similar to the SLS? Exept for the square buttons on steering wheel and different console.

Buahahaha the insane nuke engine lives! Are they planning on keeping the n/a V8 for their two seaters and throw the turbos into the sedans/coupes/convertible versions of coupes?

I'm impressed with how long MB has milked the SLK, given that the 171 is just a revision of the 170. Same with the SL - it's like they just throw a new grill on it and the sales figures jump back up.

If this really does end up having a 476hp V8 it will be absolutely terrifying. The engineers at AMG must have a pact with the devil.

I still don't see how they manage to shoehorn a V8 into a car that small. It's pretty impressive.

Mercedes are almost as famous as GM for sticking stupidly big engines in stuff. Sounds like a recipe for lousy handling though.

The SLK is based on the C-class, and Mercedes currently fits a 6.2l V8 into the C63. So if it will fit into the C63, it can probably fit into the SLK.

476HP!?!?! from the factory? WTF? Who... what... that is freakin ludicris... It's the size of a MX5... The S2000 was freakin Awesome with only 240.

I'm not complaining, It just seems like overkill.

      Near 500HP in a SLK?

Yeah, I'd like to give that a try. Whoa.

even though I find the current SLK design very attractive, I also find it very girly... it's the perfect secretary car... of course she'd have to be doing more than just open the mail for the boss to be able to afford that car...

I just saw this car in LA last night. It was driving down PCH from Santa Monica and into Marina Del Ray. The engine is 100% a V8 and it sounded MEAN! There was also an updated E63 driving right behind it. SOOOOO pissed I didn't have a camera around!!

Well. the current AMG has a 5.5 l engine so what's a few more cc? trust AMG- they can shove it in.
From the size of the front brakes and the big fat rear tires, plus the tail pipes and the little bump under the wing mirrors where it usually says 6.3 V8 in silver you can see the AMG DNA in this car....it sure doesn't look like the SLK 200.

      The 2010 SLK55 makes 355hp, not 330. That 330hp comes from the SLK32 from the mid-90's.
