2011 Acura TL – Click above for high-res image gallery

When it comes to Acura's corporate schnoz, you likely fall into one of two camps: you either loathe the chrome nose or you really loathe the chrome nose. There doesn't seem to be much in between. So to address its derisive looks, Acura appears to be tweaking the front end of the TL for the 2011 model year.

While it's highly doubtful that Acura is going to completely dispatch the metal overbite found throughout its lineup, the new nose appears more refined and slightly toned down. Judging by the heavily-camo'd shot above, there's sure to be some revisions to the lower fascia, but the real changes can be seen on the pic to the right, including some new slatting and a slightly smaller shield.

On this particular prototype, there's also a fair amount of wires protruding from one of the exhaust outlets and leading into the trunk, so it's likely safe to assume that some kind of engine or electronics upgrades are in the works for this mid-cycle refresh. With hot-weather testing fully underway, we suspect the mildly restyled TL will debut later this year before going on sale in the first half of 2011.

I actually see a lot of the new TLs around my city. I have grown accustomed to their looks, and actually like how striking they are. In a strange way, if given the chance, the look works both front and back.

When my wife and I went shopping for a new car the TL was #1 on the list. The content for the $$$ was unbeatable. I had almost talked myself into liking the front end. Then I saw one coming at me on the street. Yikes! It doesnt look too bad when surround by others on the lot. Out on the street is another matter entirely. We did not buy it based on the nose.

        So you've driven it?
Plain & simple, Honda has no clue how to make a car look good.
Reliable maybe, but want to be seen in this car wow factor, FAIL...

along with the new front end update, why didnt they do something about the rear too?? the rear wasn't as bad as the front, but it was still somewhat of an eyesore imo. :/

I usually think cars that drive around with their bumpers ripped off look horrible. I think this car might actually benefit from such a treatment.

While you're at it, how about adding rwd and more HP.
It comes in AWD idiot with 305hp!

Manual transmission with SH-AWD finest! The best AWD system

Oh, yet another honda/acura activist disciple that's got his panties all in a bunch. Maybe there are some differences between the two honda brands, however, if you think they don't use a ton of like parts, just as chevy/cadillac, vw/audi... do, you're out of your invisible mind.

If I had a tissue I'd give it to you right now to wipe your tears.

Yo, anti-beaver, relax. I gather from the use of the word "finest" you must own one of these rebadged Honda's. How awesome for you.

        Hey CoopDvillE,

Please inform us what Honda is sold identical to this TL?

Where can I shop at Honda and get this 3.7 liter 6-speed manual SH-AWD?

Ufffff, What a happy world. A Acura TL road test without mention the grille 70% of
the times. The tester will focus better in the car.

Keep the paper bag over its schnoz and it already looks better.

"Aprime or a jdm swap yo yo"

        yo yo waz up.

First, swap with what JDM model. The TL is designed, built, and only sold in North America!

wow! Thats how they should have come from the factory
        • 4 Years Ago
Yeah the Acura dealership down here, Ft. Walton Beach FL, had painted almost all their noses. It completely fixes the problem on the darker colors.
        very good fix.

Just to add on to edirtaynine's comments. This a picture of the TSX which already has a very conservative nose compared to the TL.

I saw a gray TL with body colored nose the other day.. It still looked ridiculous to me. Ugly is still ugly no matter how much makeup you put on.

        YO YO WAZUP HOMIE

I meant the TSX pictured in the link.

AFAIK that's Honda Europe and JDM stuff.
        True that.
yes painting helps the TL's ugly beak.... but that image link is actually showing a TSX which already looks miles better than the TL to begin with.
Yep. Form-wise it's not bad. It's just so damned chrome. I can't help but think it should come with an enormous bottle of beer.
loads of chrome works for a cadillac or lincoln, but not an acura!
