RMR Hyundai Genesis PM580 – Click above for high-res image gallery

Before loading the Hyundai Genesis PM580 onto the truck for the trip to Colorado, the Rhys Millen Racing crew polished up their new race car its final photo shoot. The tube-frame hill-climb special is now wearing its official Red Bull livery in preparation for Millen's record attempt on Sunday.

Millen will be doing his best to recapture the outright record that his father Rod held for 13 years and in the process hopes to become the first driver to ever get under 10 minutes for the "run to the clouds." Our man Drew Phillips will be on site in Colorado all weekend to provide us with coverage, so stay tuned for more beautiful pictures than you can shake a stick at.

      Looked better naked...

I can't wait to see his run...anyone know who is going to cover the event?

+1.... I'm sure Speed won't be, they'll probably be discussing nascar driver's selections of underwear or something.

Maybe there will be a live stream somewhere on the interwebs?

They usually tape it and then replay bits and pieces a few months down the road. I think ESPN typically picks it up. Don't expect to see anything close to live though.

BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE A GENESIS! THIS CAR SUX!

      /s

I can't wait to see Rhys break the record, it's gonna be fun to watch.

Kinda agree -- I personally liked the look of the whacked-out rally racer/funny car imitations of street automobiles. But then I really don't, because the purpose of a racer is to be as fast as it can be within the rules provided. If this is what the Millens see as the fastest way up the hill, who am I to differ?

However, if it HAD looked slightly like the original car (the same way that NASCAR bodies look slightly like their production counterparts), it probably would have done more from a marketing/advertising standpoint. Although they would have made it less aerodynamically efficient...

Oh well - here's to hoping for a hi-po Genesis Coupe Pikes Peak package.

Is it yet another VQ powered Hyundai prototype? !!!

PROTIP: timing is important to a joke.

you're about two years late for that punchline.

Will he be running in the unlimited class for the hill climb?
what beast. go get 'em tiger!
NOT diggin' the NASCAR spec headlight decals. looks a little mongoloid-cross-eyed... rest of the car looks decent though. I preferred it in bare carbon black.
@ Joe: My thoughts exactly! Why give it fake headlights when it's not based off a production car that has them?

That being said: Hyundai - you better turn this into a road car! lol...
        @Joe & Craig

First off, this is the unlimited class. There's no rule that says you have to have real headlights.

Secondly, why don't you guys talk to Monster about fake headlights? He's been doing it on the last 3 iterations of the Escudo.
