We saw the Kia Forte five-door at the 2010 New York International Auto Show back in April, and now we know when to look for it in dealerships. The handsome hatchback will be available this fall, according to the Upcoming Vehicles section of Kia's website. Handsomely penned, like the rest of the Forte line, the 2010 Forte five-door will be the most versatile variant.

Pricing is expected to follow the four-door's paradigm closely, which means significant value. Bluetooth is standard, and so is auxiliary/MP3 capability. The EX trim-level Forte five-door will have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 156 horsepower and both automatic and manual transmissions are six-speed units. The SX models get a 2.4-liter 173 hp four-cylinder and 17-inch wheels. With the arrival of this sharp little wagon, Kia's Forte covers all the common form-factors. Prospective buyers can sign up at Kia's website to be notified when the car officially goes on sale, as well as get other updates from Kia. Thanks for the tip, Jeremy!

Kia begins to create it's own design style and the last few years' products are relly good. The only long term problem is KIA's image - it took more than ten years for Hyundai to change it and even now their (Hyndai's) residual value is still worse than direct competition from Japan...

Wow impressive..Koreans are really serious in selling cars remind me of the Japanese in early 90s when Accord and Camry sold in all forms (sedan, coupe, wagon) Those were the days Japanese car companies catching up in car sales (not truck sales). I guess the Korean learn something from the Japanese and they realized reliable, great design and affordable cars will take you to the top.

Now I am also considering Korean car after I tried Japanese cars, European cars and American. And if the spec and pricing are right I will get one.

This is great news for consumers! A 5-door compact that looks terrific, has a choice of powertrains and is at a price point that is affordable. What's not to like?

      Nice.
      Understated.

Honda should send some designers over to study with the koreans a bit.

Give it AWD in the SX trim and it will be my next car. I like the way it looks and the power sounds good for its size.

No pix of the interior yet. If it has the nice bolstered seats from the Koup, it goes on my list. If it has the sedan's seats, no go.

      The Forte 5-door looks great.

Much better than the Elantra Touring, IMO.

Pretty impressed with the looks of the whole Forte lineup. Rented a sedan not too long ago, they're actually pretty decent cars.

Wow, I'm impressed with how well Kia has improved their styling across the line, but this Forte hatchback is surprisingly good looking!!!

nice clean design, why can't more manufacturers grace their entry-level models with this kind of simple, but attractive styling?

      back end is ugly.

I guess styling is a subjective opinion.

My subjective opinion on you is that you need glasses.

        @Chaingun

I agree with you. There are so much bad photoshop work there, it's not even funny. So unprofessional, Bad quality photos.

Whomever in charge of getting those photos out at KIA needs to be NIXED... or move to another job!

I like the back end. And the front.

I'm glad to see another hatchback offering in the US market.

Everything looks good except the c-pillar.

It's like they were saving money on a photographer. Are these officially released pics from Kia? :S
        • 4 Years Ago
. . . I actualy like the back more than the front.
        As is yours no doubt.
Eh, I think the photos are fine.

The 2.0L 156hp with a 6-speed auto should put down a terrific balance of performance and fuel economy. And that should spread to the low-end sedans, too. Niiiiiice.

      Fire the art department!

Those are some of the worst Photoshop jobs, ever.
