Just in time for the summer solstice, Lotus sent out a cryptic message to let us know that the next evolution of the brand will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. No other clues have been revealed, but we're guessing that a number of hints will be dropped over the course of the summer.

There are several possibilities, including an Evora convertible or a supercharged variant of Lotus' 2+2, both of which have been previously confirmed. Considering the Elise is growing long in the tooth and is slated to be replaced in 2012, the third-gen. model could be in the cards. But if we were betting men, we'd put a few bucks on Lotus finally unveiling the all-new Esprit after years of delays. The next Esprit will use a stretched version of the Evora platform and is expected to have V8 power, although it's not clear who will supply it. Regardless of what Lotus unveils, if these are the kind of teaser we can expect, it's going to be a long summer.

We're gonna get suckered with a minivan or something.

      Just kidding. I hope.

A new Esprit would be dope, though.

Like diablo said, give it a screaming high-revver.

mmm new esprit, awesome! give it r8 v10 levels of neutral handling and acceleration and i'll be impressed. give it F458/Mclaren levels of handling and acceleration and lotus will rewrite the play book.

I know that this doesnt make any sense but I would love to see a lightweight Esprit with a new V8 5.0 L from ford.

I think this car should get a nice small displacement, high-revving 4cam motor. Would make sweet music to my ears.

And this coming from a guy with a large displacement, low-revving, OHV V8. :)

Please don't let it be hybrid Lotuses. *Facepalm*

This new Espirit is rumored to have a BMW twin-turbo V-8 as the powerplant right?

If it is the same engine they are using in the X5/6M and new M5, this car could be stupendous.

Finally, I am expecting a lot fro this car.

Please Lotus don't disappoint me with hybrid or something else.

      If it's a Hybrid/EV/anythingthatisntanespirit,

I will find the nearest person with an English accent and punch them in the face.
