Mini training montage – Click above to view the video after the jump

Mini seems to still be struggling to talk Porsche into participating in a throw down at Road Atlanta. After a couple of clever videos and hiring a plane to buzz the Porsche North America headquarters, the pint-size brand just can't seem to talk its German Goliath into stepping into the ring. Maybe that's because Porsche thinks Mini hasn't put in the hours – the dedication it needs to be a serious contender. What Mini really needs is a solid training montage, complete with bad '80s music, sparkle filters and surly trainer.

Well, look no further. A fresh-from-the-oven video has cropped up over on Funny or Die featuring the Cooper S as it punishes itself in the pursuit of all-out motorsports glory. Don't worry, Mini head honcho Jim McDowell doesn't spend any time on screen this time. Hop the jump to enjoy the hilarity for yourself.

I'm getting the feeling that Mini made this video before Porsche declined the challenge. Having already spent the money on it, so why not air it, even if Porsche has no intention of coming out to lay the smack down.

Haha that was pretty good but the best thing on Funny or Die is drunk history volumes 2 and 2.5. So good.

gotta agree w/ flychinook, above. mini looks like the annoying little brother begging to play w/ the big kids. some of this stuff is funny but it's way past enough.

PORSCHE: race them and beat them silly

all about the hate in here. HOW DARE MINI CHALLENGE THE ALMIGHTY PORSCHE! its called a sense of humor. although the rocky IV reference would be better used for an american car haha. you people act like porsche still has brand dignity after the cayenne. so what if mini is punching above its weight, theyre not hurting anything issuing a silly challenge. well, aside from all the butthurt i see in the comments youd think mini posted up a video of one running over your mothers...
Yeah, there's a surprising amount of butthurt in the comments. Lack of sense of humor, I guess.

Mini should take a Porsche and put up a Mini frame over the internals and race it.

At some point, perhaps already, Porsche is going to have a case that their brand is being used strategically without their consent, to advertise for some other brand.

Porsche and Mini don't directly compete, but yet Mini is trying to make money by a disparate association with Porsche, and trying to use Porsche's brand image to codify it's own, without Porsche's permission.
