We're not sure if you've noticed, but we've officially entered the dog days of Summer. And while that means that temperatures have begun crawling their way to the triple digits in certain portions of the country, it also means that genuine auto industry news has slowed somewhat. Of course, that won't stop the interwebs from generating a very unique brand of news that's all its own. Where hard facts and quotes fail to materialize, the hallowed rumor will be more than happy to take over. In that spirit, Autocar is reporting that Volkswagen is mulling the creation of a long-roof version of its CC four-door coupe.

According to the UK publication, an unnamed source within the manufacturer leaked the plans for a CC wagon, and the company's board will vote on whether or not to build the vehicle later this year. The reasoning behind the model seems stable enough – Autocar says that since Passat is on its way out in the U.S. and the car's successor won't be available in wagon trim, the company will need something to fill the void. But the CC? Really? Time will tell, we suppose, but call us skeptical on this one. If true, we're fully expecting VW to claim that it is poised to build the world's first five-door coupe – you know, if Mercedes-Benz doesn't beat them to the punch.

As long as it's an actual WAGON and not one of those ugly wagon-ish things like the Crosstour or X6, this would most likely bring me back into a VW dealership.
        Make it a five-seater and I'm sold.

      Make it a 5 seater.

As the proud owner of a passat wagon, I am angered to hear that the NMS replacement will not be offered in a wagon form (especially after the promising spy shots last week). However, I would more than consider a CC Wagon or euro Passat wagon as my next vehicle!

      Me Likey!!

you me sonata looks like the cc
@ John H... Are you high? The CC looks like the Sonata???

The progression of the 4 door coupes went along these lines...

MB CLS > VW CC > Hy Sonata... and then of course there are tons of other hunchbacks in there like the new Bugatti, Panamamamama, the A7, etc.

But you should be whipped on the back of the hands for typing that!!! The Sonata is jumping on the fastback bandwagon POST-CC!

*All* cars are looking about the same now. I just think we're going to see a lot more Sonatas than CCs.

      Would be nice.

Yes please! The more wagons (tourers) the better. If we get enough out there, maybe we could flush out/offset some of these blasted SUVs/CUVs.

      More wagons!

Hrm... maybe they mean something akin to the A5 Sportback?

If so, Yes. Yes, Please. And oh maybe the 3.0 TDI with "S tronic", though the 170 hp 2.0 TDI would be okay too

I envision a CC Tour with.. 1973 Volvo P1800 ES Sport Wagon style
      & 2.0 T engine.

That is an extremely handsome car!
      Beautiful lines.

it started as a sedan coupé concoction. Now it's bound to become a Wagon Sedan Coupé crossbreed freak of a car.
What's next? Pick-up wagon sedan coupé. Let's see what you guys come up with.
Wait, so who needs a 4-door-coupe-come-wagon, that seats 4 people? Oh wait, I know - ME!

VW, I realize that my earnest promise to buy one won't change your minds, but pretty please with a cherry on top?
Sonata looks way way better than this.
I was thinking about this exact thing yesterday when I saw a Passat wagon on my way home from work. I'd be seriously interested in a CC wagon.
Uh, isn't the CC just a Passat with a prettier but less useful back end and fancier interior package? So a CC wagon would be . . . the Passat wagon? Anyone ever actually SAT in a CC? You can almost see out of the high, narrow mail slot they call the rear window. It may be pretty, but if you can't see out the back, and the trunk is harder to get stuff into . . . is it worth more?
