Nissan Leaf iAd on 4th generation iPhone – Click above for high-res image gallery

One or two of you may have noticed that Apple CEO Steve Jobs "officially" revealed the new fourth-generation iPhone today at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference. What you may not know is that the Nissan Leaf played a small part in his demonstration of Apple's new iAd mobile advertising platform. Nissan will apparently be using the iAd system to promote its upcoming electric car with some cool interactive features.

The ad begins with a small banner that shows up at the bottom of the iPhone screen. iPhone users can tap the banner to expand the ad to full screen where they will find the Leaf on a pedestal. A swipe across the screen will spin the pedestal to reveal different features of the car. One of the pages allows users to register for the Leaf reservation list and even enter an iAd-exclusive contest to win a Leaf.

Users will be able to check out the ad on iPhones, iPod touches and iPads after it goes live on July 1.

I have been a long time AT&T/iphone user, not anymore. Contract was up a few months ago, now with the HTC Evo out, I'm dumping them.

So apple thinks this is innovation? Making you pay out the a$$ for the phone, and like others have said, nickle and dime you even more on the monthly rates, only to cram more stuff you don't care to see down your throat via iAds?

Steve jobs must be smoking crack if he thinks anyone with a brain will like being bombarded on their phone with ads.

One of the screenshots says that the Leaf is "the world's first real electric car"... WTF!?! Even discounting the recent Tesla roadster and the EV1, there were electric cars made before Nissan existed as a car manufacturer! Nissan is turning into an Apple of the auto world with stupid remarks like that (even though the hardware is mighty competitive, they over-hyping, lies and assinine restrictions kill it for most people who are in the know).

Beginning in 2008, "Alpha" models had the 5.3L from the Silverado thrown in for more power and just slightly lower fuel economy.

...but how far can you drive on $1 when your battery performance deteriorates?

So we pay for the new phone, then AT&T makes you pay for a more expensive data plan, then you get to watch "exclusive" commercials. Oh boy, where to do I sign up?!

      Stupid.

So what. Not like it's never happened before.

You already pay for cable or satellite TV only to have Billy Mays yell at you from the grave.

Yeah, it's stupid. But, it's the way it is. Free commerce! /sarcasm
