The psychedelic tape has come off the 2011 Mini Cooper prototypes running around, and it is indeed a "very, very minor facelift" you can expect for the next model. The camouflage hides chrome-rimmed intakes, two in front and two in back, which will not only distinguish it from earlier models but also from the Countryman – at least for the time being. New light clusters will also adorn the refreshed hatch, and some interior finishes will be upgraded – but don't expect that giant speedo to leave the building anytime soon.

They need to completely redo the interior. The first gen was great, but the current one looks and feels super cheap. This is not a cheap little car. It should have an Audi level interior (A3).

Saturn was bashed for having gauges in the dash center, and the Big Ben edition in the Mini is just as bad.

Speaking of the Countryman, do we have a better idea of when it hits the streets?

thank god they covered the logo...so no one could tell...you kidding me

this is what they were thinking: "every time you drive in public there is a always chance some one will take photos so to be sure w'll cover the logo with tape a NO ONE CAN TELL, are we smart or what"

or something close to that, i'm pretty sure.

Why are people so hung up on the giant speedo? It's a decoration for god's sake. It's not actually used!!!

Will EVERYONE stop with the gratuitous "air intakes". Old, tired, dumb, ugly. ,

At least most of them are real still, unlike the proliferation of stick-on vents, most of which I see applied sideways or at some slight angle. Is it too much trouble to align a plastic disc so it looks even half real? ;)

I was fine with the G1's Mini interior.....however Mini took that design and went to off the deep end. Who designs the air con controls to look like there corporate logo? Ditch the interior and make something functional, then think design.
