2009 Buick Business Concept – Click above for high-res image gallery

For years , Buick has produced the GL8 minivan for the Chinese market. It's based on the late-1990s Pontiac Trans Sport. With that van being severely outdated for the better part of a decade now, Buick's just about ready to replace it with an all-new design. The new GL8 (we don't yet know if the name badge will carry over) has been spotted out testing and it looks very much like the Buick Business Concept that debuted last year in Shanghai.

One of the more interesting visual elements of the concept was its dipped beltline, similar to those on the Hyundai Genesis coupe and the more recent Honda Odyssey concept. The interior of the Buick van looks very upscale, in keeping with what we've seen in the new LaCrosse and Regal.

Considering that the prototype in the spy photos still doesn't have completed light clusters, it's likely that the GL8 replacement won't officially debut until next year's Shanghai show.

It would be hilarious if the gray lines that continue from the lights are the whole headlight. Longest lamp EVER!!

for some reason, I keep thinking this is really a Mazda in disguise

Lower the hood, equip it with bucket seats (no benches) and bring it over as a sporty minivan alternative. Would surely help increase Buick's MPG average from what the Enclave contributes and give them something unique within their lineup

The spyshot makes it look like they kept most of the styling cues from the concept. Should be a decent looking minivan.

This should be one of those vehicles that Buick imports into the US - it doesn't match any other US GM products from Cadillac or Chevy and it would fill in the gap left when they pulled out of the minivan market here. And it probably wouldn't see in large enough volumes to bring production into the US, so just import a few thousand of them and see how they sell.

I'd consider them both to be mistakes. The belt line on the GL8 - why? Is someone hiding behind the rear seats, peeking out?

If you think the car is ugly than stop and think. The american tax payers have payed over 75 billion out to save the american auto industry and they build their cars now in china ,canada and mexico leaving the american workers out in the cold NOW THATS UGLY

China only? Good; keep it there.

Buick GL8? Over here it would be pronounced 'great', but in China, yeah, GL8.

the thing is , china had the regal and then it came here... it most likely wont happen, but there is always a possibility that the minivan may find its way over here...then again, the enclave did replace al of buick's suv's and the old minivan, so it may just remain a chinese exclusive!
