Next generation BMW 6 Series convertible – Click above for high-res image gallery

BMW has had a remarkably steady flow of new product hitting the market in the last couple of years, and now that the latest 5 Series is starting to hit the streets and the X3 is coming this fall, one of the next models in line for a rework is the 6 Series.

The new coupe and convertible will be the last of the "Bangle Butt" models to go under the knife, and none too soon. The redesigned convertibles have been running everywhere from Arvidsjaur, Sweden to the Nurburgring since last winter, but always with the top up. The latest batch of images from our intrepid spy shooters show a test driver enjoying a bit Munich sunshine in the spring.

When the new 6 debuts publicly either later this year or early next we're expecting it to feature much of the same design language we've seen on the latest 5, 7 and Z4, with tight side sculpting, stretched headlamps and an overall look that is both cleaner and more muscular than before.

      "That's a HUGE ...." car.

Makes the old 8-series look modest.

I'm going to buy me a role of that camo-cladding and wrap my minivan in it, after I install a faux BMW grill up front and a "666" model designation on the hatch.

Where's the best place to drive my camo'd BMW minivan to be noticed?

WOW. I thought the rear/side visibility of modern cars was bad. This looks *horrible*. Just imagine it with the top up.

my girlfriend has a Dodge Charger... the chop-top design really annoys me. I couldn't imagine another car coming out that would be worse.

I havent liked the looks of BMWs since they lost the distinctive squarish look in the mid 90s. Though the 6 series has always been the best looker in my opinion

I was hoping they'd make the lines a bit more curvy...maybe make the car more appealing to look at. Doesn't look like that's the case.

Anyone ever notice in these spy shots of camoflauged cars that you never see pedestrians or motorists looking at them. Like it's just any ordinary car.
I don't know about you, but if I saw a car roll up next to me with a psychedelic/zebra paintjob(decals), I'd be staring at it like "wtf?"

The pedestrians and motorists are too busy looking their phones or nav screens.

Everyone probably thought it was just the next Solara and yawned.

I am going to hold back my comments about the styling till it officially gets unveiled, but it's going to be tough to make it uglier than the current 6.
...one of BMW's worst designs in recent memory.... well besides the GT-models.
