Infiniti G Coupe Sketches – Click above for high-res image

For the past two years, Infiniti has been growing its presence in Pebble Beach. The week-long auto extravaganza in August plays host to a number of automaker events, but recently, Infiniti has been taking center stage. For 2010, Nissan's premium channel isn't letting up, bringing two M-based models to the party in Pebble, both of which are slated for production.

We don't have specifics on either model, but in addition to the image above, our sources within Infiniti tell us that the new coupe variants will be extensions of its current lineup, lending credence to recent rumors of an M coupe likely to be based off Infiniti's current line of G vehicles.

More interestingly, we've been told that both models will "extend Infiniti into an area we haven't been before" and that one of those models will be more "performance oriented." If that means we can expect some kind of powertrain similar to the Essence Concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show last year – a twin-turbo, direct injected V6 putting out over 450 horsepower – consider our interest incredibly piqued.

Both models are set to go on sale in October or November of this year, with the M35 Hybrid arriving sometime toward the end of 2011.

If it really has the high-performance version, my cay-buying plan is going to be delayed. Perhaps it is coming as 4.5 V8 twin turbo instead of 3.7 V6 twin turbo because otherwise it is hard to compete with F10 M5 and C219 CLS63

its most likely two new G's as people keep sayin...the last 2 gens only lasted 3 years...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that a manual trans wont be available. All I can really take from the sketches is that the second one is definitely a coupe. The top one has me flustered as to what it might be...maybe like dougetx said, a 5-door variant.

For the coupe, I'm going to guess lots of technology for entertainment, safety and performance, maybe a GTR derived drivetrain and traction system all being propelled by the new V8.

I still think Infiniti could benefit from an amp'd up G37 (coupe and sedan) beyond what they currently offer. We'll see.

Oh boy, more bland cars for "jet set" crowd?

Just build the damn essence. It was singularly beautiful, stunningly forward. Get it to 145k and you have your NSX.

I'd rather they just put the FX50's engine in the current G37S 6MT.

An M-coupe is going to be a behemoth of a coupe, and probably look as bloated as the new M and FX do, and their G-series face-lifts haven't been wonderful, either.

5 liters and 400 horsepower, with a manual gearbox and wider tire fitment and sport suspension, and brembos... would be just fine, and just about the right size.

        +1 for G50c.

I'm not a big fan of the MB CLS "coupe", but I imagine that this is the trend that Infiniti will follow with a four-door M "coupe", and a shortened wheelbase M coupe to fight with the BMW 6-series.

But I'd be much more interested in a G50c or G56c. The Orange County house-wife is probably the target, though, not the enthusiast. Enthusiasts are poor.

It amazes me that despite being written in the post, 75% of people still can't spell the Infiniti name properly.

That being said, would love to see a M3 competitor from them that embodies features from the Essence concept. Infiniti/Nissan is currently the only company that makes me want to stray from my German fanboyism.

i'm pretty sure one of them is going to be infiniti's EV... just saying... the other probably a top of the line GT. Like M coupe or maybe they'll bring back the "Q" nameplate. Those are my guesses.
