2010 Kia Ghost Soul – Click above for high-res image gallery

Kia just announced a new special-edition Soul. The Ghost Soul will join the likes of the Shadow Dragon Soul, Denim Soul and Ignition Soul as the last of four unique takes on the Korean automaker's quirky people mover. The changes to the base car are fairly subtle and include a new fender vent and rear spoiler, along with a smattering of chrome accents and snappy-looking 18-inch wheels. Inside, buyers can look forward to a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, along with heated, leather-trimmed seats that replace the stock buckets.

The Ghost Soul is based on the Soul+, but throws in an Audio Upgrade Package for good measure, meaning that the additional center speaker and subwoofer come standard. Final pricing sits at $20,185, not including destination, and the company says that the Ghost Soul is available at dealers right now. Hit the jump for the press release.

Limited-Run Special Edition Kia Soul Brings New Personality to the Soul Line

* Ghost Soul adds unique light gray-blue exterior and gray side-stripe

* Fourth special edition Soul extends personalization theme for popular urban passenger vehicle

IRVINE, Calif., May 12, 2010 – Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced the special edition Ghost Soul, the final of four special edition 2010 Souls, is now in Kia Motors showrooms. The Ghost Soul reflects the urban passenger vehicle's unique personalization options and combines the value, safety and technology of the vehicle's standard equipment. This latest iteration complements three other special edition vehicles, including Ignition Soul, Denim Soul and Shadow Dragon Soul.

"With the Ghost Soul, we are again offering consumers another unique personality for the Soul while emphasizing its design flexibility," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing, KMA. "The Ghost Soul builds upon the success of previous 2010 special edition Souls, which have been well received by consumers for their versatility and unique styling."

Like previous special edition Souls, the 2010 Ghost Soul is based on the Soul+ model and is fully loaded with the addition of the Audio Upgrade Package (center speaker, subwoofer and external amplifier). The 2010 Ghost Soul is the second Soul to offer black leather-trimmed seats with seat warmers, which provides drivers added luxury and comfort. To complete the overall appearance the interior features metallic and chrome accents. Front fender vents with side marker repeater lights and speaker lights that pulse to the beat of the music further add to the Soul's unique personality. Ghost Soul also includes a body kit, moonroof, fog lights, black 18-inch alloy wheels with machined accents, a sport trim spoiler as well as the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, which further complete the special edition Soul's packaging. The 2010 Ghost Soul starts at $19,4901 with a five-speed manual transmission.

The ghost isn't that bad. It might not be the car for me, for a newer driver just wanting to cruise with a couple friends this would be ideal for. And stop messing with the engine, everyone doesn't need the strongest, most powerful availible engine. Most ppl don't have the skills to handle a v8, or turbo charged car. The auto-makers must make cars for everyone, not just the "fast, and the furious" crowd.

O, I like this! Color, rims, Kia & all.

18" wheels look stupid with those tiny brake disks. Does the rear even have disk brakes?
The 1.6L base model has front disc/rear drum and all other trims have 4 wheel disc. So hopefully a special edition trim would have 4 discs.

Anybody own one of these? I thought they were geared towards the younger crowd. I told my 18 and 16 year old kids I would get them a Soul and they gagged.
Hey, you just save your self 20k :-)
I think it looks pretty cool but I wouldn't actually own one. If it's anything like the xB, it's geared towards the younger crowd but it's usually older people who want to be young that buy them. Not to say that young people can't own one, but I think they may very well be the minority, although rather accidentally.

Strange how all these cars geared towards young people get bought by old ladies.

Here in the OC, where Kia has their Tech Centre, you see plenty (more that many D3 models) and are driven by a whole range of people.

Does in only come in Ghost White or will there be a Halloween Black-n-Orange version too? How about a ghostly image of Michael Myers etched into the rear-view mirrors?

      20k? Hmmmm..... I think I'll pass.
Don, not everyone wants to drive around in ugly retro guise. Deal with it. I'm not even remotely tempted by Mustangs. If I were, I'd get a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. LOL
        • 5 Years Ago
i see alot of moms drive Soul. they dig the styling. and not everybody wants a Mustang. My wife actually wants to trade her elantra for Soul. it's hip for girls.
Leather heated seats, 18-inch wheels, and upgraded sound....That's about normal for $20K. How is that a rip-off?
I am always amused by some of the airhead comments that I read on sites like this. Young people gagging when offerred a "Soul? old people wanting to be young, buy a mustang instead. I think I see victims of the "Peter Principle." The Souls is a tight vehicle with nice pickup, and highway stability. Great options which come standard as opposed tor US manufactured brand vehicles. With a reasonable trade, rebates and possible cutomer loyalty discounts you could be looking at a great small car with a bigger car feel for well under or around fourteen - fifteen thousand dollars. For those who want a Mustang or any other vehicle, buy it...........but do it after careful review of the facts and consumer reviews. Not everyone feels they have to keep up with the Jonses or scream around curves just so someone can look and them and remark how foolish they look.

      I see dead Kias.

        They are Ghost Souls.

I gotta say i would love to see that new 2.0L turbo making 275hp put in this thing. Considering that engine gets 34mpg in the sonata it would not significantly affect the mileage on this vehicle. I would love to have a practical vehicle with performance, mileage, costing around $20k. It'd be like a speed3 with even more practicality and far better mileage.
Looks more like a Stormtrooper than a ghost...

These aren't the Kias you're looking for, move along.
Pointless car, what is it for?
It ain't pretty, it ain't cheap, it ain't fast and it looks like a cube on wheels

What's to like about this thing?
There's an awful lot of white paint going on here. Are you sure this isn't the Michael Jackson version? (too soon?)
