Audi R8 GT – Click above for high-res image gallery

If you've already had enough of the Audi R8 GT, you've probably found this site by accident and you shouldn't be here. Go away. Now if you're still around, we needn't remind you of the stripped down GT's 560 horsepower 5.2-liter V10 engine. Nor the 220 pound weight loss program and its 3.6 second run to 60 mph. If we're speaking your language, then check out this newest batch of wallpaper-ready photos of the lightest, most powerful R8 courtesy Audi's German website.

Since Audi only plans to produce 330 examples of its stunningly capable coupe, pictures could well be the closest many of us will ever get to four-ringed perfection. Bask in the beauty below.

pure audi sechs. it's a strange world we live in when only audi and mercedes are producing supercars and bmw's most recent attempt was a gawdy mediocre stumble... come on, get your 'independent' pride in gear and join the rest of the big kids.

are you talking about the Z8? if so, it's hard to call it a "stumble" when they have APPRECIATED since they were sold new. very few modern cars have even come close to that feat. it wasn't meant to be a "supercar," it was a beautiful, luxurious, competent, fun-to-drive, two-seat convertible built to the highest standard of quality.

with that said... i agree bmw NEEDS to build a flagship, focused sportscar. a lightweight, rwd, mid-engined, twin-turbo, high-revving V8 or V10 would be absolutely drool-worthy.

those wheels are too "spider-web" looking for me. not that i can afford the car anyway. just sayin.
Agreed, but if they're spinning madly and you're inside, it's gonna be hard to think about how those wheels look.
        Agreed. Wheels are too busy..

But they are reminiscent of the V12 TDI/LeMans concept.

The hatchback vents, the wing, and other cues also allude to that, as well.

I am still waiting for the transparent roof, with the naca duct in the middle. :D

Was looking pretty good until the GT2 RS was leaked. I'd take that over this... but I wouldn't kick it out of bed.

I am a fan of Porsche, but I am curious as to what specifically you prefer from the GT2 RS over the R8 GT 5.2...

The R8 still has AWD, but has better mid-engined balance, as well.

The Porsche has simpler, lighter AWD, but is more tail-heavy.

I love boxer engines... but a mid-engined chassis would be hard to beat.

An R8 is a sleeper car to an 80 year old man...
Lol, no. Just my desktop wallpaper. I only meant "bigger". You're right, "full-res" was not the right term.
        you trying to make posters?
Awesome pictures, and even though I know I can't afford it, I'm pretty sure it must be a lot of fun to have one of these and take to a track.
Not that I can afford a super car, but if I could, this would be it. As nice as an Lambo or Ferrari would be, being seen in one with people you know would be totally different. In reality, people would have resentment.

With this, you can tell its special, but I think people would have to be a little bit of a car nut to really know what it is, other then a really nice Audi. Way more sleeperish, less obvious then other super cars. Seems like Audi drivers get away with not being a a-hole or jerk off better then other cars.

It's just plain and pretty all at once and fully functional. I love it.
