Proposal for a dynamic BMW roundel – Click above to watch video after the jump

There's everything on the Internet, isn't that what they say? A company called Zafira Consulting & Trading has posted a proposal on YouTube for a dynamic re-envisioning of BMW's roundel logo. It's got the usual form and colors but, to quote Galileo, "And yet it moves."

The only other logos we know of that move on a car are on Rolls-Royces and Bentleys – the wheel caps rotate to stay centered, and the hood ornaments will retract. Zafira's idea isn't anything like that. It is neat, but... well, have a look at it for yourselves after the jump and tell us if you can see it in BMW's future.

i like it, but then again i always like gee-wiz gimmicks from "the future". not that there's any particular reason or stated desire by BMW to do something like this, this does seem like something they would have thought up themselves: it involves over-engineering something that didn't need to be re-engineered in the first place and doing something expensively that could have been done simply, .....plus it's got that sense of being something that WE may find a little dorky but THEY think is really cool. it's a cultural thing sometimes.

      Simply needless and pointless...

That is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

The retracting Spirit of Ecstasy does make sense, sort of. Hiding it while the vehicle is parked means some yob won't walk by and yank it off. This is just all kinds of dumb.

It should just have Sean Connery's voice repeating over a loudspeaker

"I am driving a BMW, I am driving a BMW"

But yea that logo looks like a sticker out of a gumball machine.

Looks dumb, I hope you can turn it off!

Will this one stay on or will it wear off quickly, so all that is left is a silver circle?

Maybe its a fluke with the ones people I know have owned, but I have seen quite a few BMW's where the roundel has just been worn off (and these are late model cars).

and isn't that the old style Z4? Do they know theres been a new one out for a year?

someone should've ctrl+alt+del'd the idea long time ago.

This is by far the dumbest thing to come from BMW lately, (excluding the X1) from the lame logo to the absurd name (DCI?!). That Z4 would look better with a BYD logo on it.

And they told me it wasn't related to their aircraft manufacturing history...

Not to mention how distracting it is.

        Intrawebz fail.

The pattern comes from the Bavarian flag, not the aeronautical roots. Whoever designed this, wasted their time.
