Green Earth Technologies, maker of G-Oil, the "world's first and only bio-based and ultimate biodegradable motor oil approved by the American Petroleum Institute," aired their first-ever television commercial on Saturday, April 17 during SPEED TV's live coverage of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race at Long Beach.
The 30-second animated spot is narrated by Tom "Luke Duke" Wopat. Not coincidentally, the spot features what looks remarkably like a General Lee made out of motor oil racing around and jumping over animated hills, leaving tire tracks of green creeper vines in its wake. About halfway through, the oil-based muscle car transforms, mid-jump, into the G-OIL Oreca-Courage manufactured FLM-09 racing car. This transformation is both a metaphor for G-OIL's position as the "official motor oil of ALMS and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA)" and also serves to highlight the newly formed Green Earth Team Gunnar (GETG), the first ALMS team to run on the eco oil. The commercial was well-timed, as GETG took top honors in their class and fifth overall at Long Beach, the first victory for the team and for drivers Gunnar Jeannette and Elton Julian. Follow the jump to watch the commercial.

The 30-second spot was produced by Alliance, a division of Grey Group and GET's AOR for marketing and public relations.
The animated spot is voiced by Tom Wopat of "Dukes of Hazzard" fame and highlights G-OIL, the "official motor oil of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA)." G-OIL is the world's first and only bio-based and ultimate biodegradable motor oil approved by the American Petroleum Institute.
The commercial also features the G-OIL Oreca-Courage manufactured FLM-09 racing car for the newly formed Green Earth Team Gunnar (GETG), the first ALMS team to run on environment-safe oil. "The message of the commercial bears the question 'Can changing your motor oil really change the world?' And our answer is YES. We believe that this new G-OIL TV spot breaks ground for advertising 'green' products and we are so delighted to premiere the ad on SPEED TV during Earth Month," said Jeffrey Loch, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Green Earth Technologies. "The animation is top notch and the transformation of a car using G-OIL into the GETG racing car is like nothing I've ever seen before.
