Google Earth car chase – Click above to watch the video after the jump

If you can count the number of hours you spent blowing up pixilated cars in the very first Grand Theft Auto by the tens, the video after the jump will probably strike a chord. The genius souls over at Honest Directors have taken it upon themselves to whip up a car chase, complete with images borrowed from Google Earth. There's plenty of carnage, including an explosion or two, and a lot of other awesome special effects.

Feel free to hop the jump to see the action for yourself. If you'll excuse us, we hate to be so short... but you can find us dusting off our old GTA disks out back if you need something that just can't wait.

That simulated car chase was the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time... and speaking of time... it was a waste to watch it! Really dumb!!

As always, the cops get their man.

LOL, I halfway expected a real car chase. Very entertaining.

It's like "Spy Hunter" meets "The Blues Brothers".

        @notYou:

Now *that* sounds like fun. I can finally drive crazily in places I either can't, or simply can't afford to (i.e. Monaco, Chernobyl, etc.).

I would love to see a game of this, I could wait on th chases for a little bit but even being able to virtually drive the streets would be cool.

      Lame.

I agree, the people of put this together have a good idea but they don't understand the physics of a moving car so it looks very fake.

@Carlo_Carrera When has a car chase ever used real life physics?
I would say using the words "street cred" is lame too but hey what do I know ^_^

Looks like "The Last Guy" game on the PSN. They should totally evolve it into something like this.

Kind of neat, greatly exagerated. In scale the rubber it left was wider than a real car,The speeds it attained would have been 0 to 300 mph in 2.5 seconds if this were real world scale. If you have ever seen a nascar race from the air they look like crawling ants.Sitting in the stands at a drag race the cars don't even seem like there moving until the alcohol or nitro ones hit the track.I know its an entirely different experience sitting in the drivers seat.

Aerial chase.... or street chase as seen from the air?

Reminds me of one of my police chases in Need For Speed: World closed Beta 3 this past weekend....

I have to admit, I expected more.

Wow. That video really takes me back to all those hours I've wasted playing GTA on my DOS machine.

I want that time back. :(

And BTW, the physics weren't meant to be realistic. AT ALL.
